How To Knit A Wild Bikini

howtoknitawildbikiniHow to Knit A Wild Bikini is the first book in what I hope is going to be a highly entertaining trilogy.

Nikki Carmichael wants to be a chef, but her bum knee has made it obvious to her that she can no longer keep up with the demands of a busy kitchen.  Her new dream job is to be a private chef...where she can hopefully rest her knee when the need arises.

Jay Buchanan needs a chef, but between the time he calls Nikki for an interview and she arrives for said interview has decided that he's done with women.  However, something about Nikki entices him, and when his circumstances evolve into him neding a "girl friend" he hires Nikki and convinces her to be his pretend girlfriend as well as his chef.

What happens next neither one expects, and without giving spoilers let me say that there were several interesting twists and turns that I know are helping to set up the future books, and I can't wait!

I was so excited when I read this that I enjoyed it because the last couple books I read by Christie Ridgeway just didn't quite sit right with me...so I was glad to see that her sense of humor is back to what I enjoy, and can't wait until I find out the titles of the rest of the trilogy so I can wishlist them.

re: How to Knit a Wild Bikini

This probably isn't my sort of book, but I had to chime in to say that's a pretty hilarious title!

Glad you enjoyed it...I hate when I start to not "get" a favourite author's books.

Gotta agree...

that title caught my eye, too!

This sounds like a good

Lady A, I think this author always has somewhat unusual titles.  In this case my personal opinion is she needs the title to grab people's attention, because I don't particularly like the cover.

Kim, if you get the book and read it I hope you'll let us know what you thought.

I think you're right, the cover is pretty garish...I find a lot of chicklit covers are quite off-putting, but I don't read the genre often, so maybe I'm not the target audience.  Even when I enjoy the author (Gena Showalter, for example) I have to get past the covers.

Of her last two ST, I like

Of her last two ST, I like one a lot and thought the other was okay.  Since you said this is a bit better, I will have to try and remember to look for it come June.

Cady

Have to agree with Cady

Ridgeway's last two single titles left me a bit wanting.  Like Cady I enjoyed one a bit more than the other, but if I remember correctly I was the oddball and liked the second better than the first, while most people liked the first better.

How To Knit A Wild Bikini was more vintage Ridgeway, and I hope she continues in that vain.

Nope, I was like you and

Nope, I was like you and liked the second story better, but that may have had to do with the secondary story of the brother & the gal, that one hit me.

Cady

Whew

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my reading preferences.

I've seen a lot of people recently raving about Match Me If You Can by SEP, and I just didn't care for that at all.  The secondary characters were much more interesting to me, as they were with the previous Ridgeways, so it's really fun when those characters get a full lengh book.
