I have no voice

AP-christmas-07.jpg

I spent Saturday sitting with a friend at a free clinic.  She has some health issues and no insurance, so I went to keep her company.  We sat from 10am til about 5pm.  We hadnt seen each other for a long time, so we spent the time catching up.  About half way through, we got hungry so I went to a near by hamburger stand and got some food and drinks.

Yesterday, 3 friends from work, and I went to Brunch at a local restaurant.  Afterwards, I needed to go to the Glendale Galleria (my favorite mall), to return something to Mervyns.  So we all piled in 2 cars and went to the mall just so I could return a defective shower curtain.

Its funny how you can tell people who drive everywhere.  After we parked the cars, and started walking through the mall to Mervyns which was on the oppisite side of the mall from the parking structure, I started hearing complaints.  I started hearing "are we all most there".  "boy this is far".   I guess I am used to walking or bussing everywhere, it is easy for me to walk around the mall.  But for the lazy drivers, all they did was moan and complain.

While at Mervyns, I returned my item and everyone split up to look around on their own.   We all met at the entrance a half hour later, with our little purchases, then we left the mall and wallked accross the street to Borders.  I only bought one book, but one of the other girls came out with 2 bags of books.

On the way home yesterday my voice started going horse.  Then this morning, I had no voice at all.

Since I get up at 5am, and dont talk to anyone while I am getting ready for work, i didnt know I couldnt talk, until I stepped onto the bus and went to say "good morning" to the bus driver and all that came out was a squeek.

My job doesnt require a whole lot of talking, so I thought I would be ok.  But as the morning went on, I started feeling bad.  So I asked to go home and then called job # 2 and told them I wouldnt be in. they could hear the reason why.  I left the office, about the time i would have gone to lunch.  I stopped for lunch and then came home.

I got home in time in time to watch General Hospital. I havent watched in months and I was in for a surprize.  On screen, there was two actors that had been  guest Immortals on Highlander: The Series.  Bruce Weitz and Stephen Macht (cant remember the name of their respective episodes). I wonder if the actors know their shared history.

So, here I am wrapping up my day. I am showerd and shampooed.   I am watching "The Bachelorette" (nothing else on). My voice is just about a whisper...i guess I will see how i feel/sound in the morning.

How horrible to be unable to

How horrible to be unable to talk or to barely talk.  Hope you are better soon.  And by the way that has happened to me before since I live alone also I don't do much talking until I get to where I am going.

ELLEN TOO

A true teacher is a person who, at the end of the school day, still likes children!

It's awful not being able to talk!

It's a rather helpless-feeling, isn't it?  I get laryngitis sometimes.  My DH tells me I should get it more often, but he's just kidding.  At least, I think so. Undecided  Anyway, I hope you start feeling better soon!  And in the meantime, it sounds like you have a chance to just lay low and relax.

You were talking about how many people you heard who complained about walking.  I LOVE to walk, and I can't understand people who would rather drive everywhere.  How boring.  I like to jog too, but walking is much more practical and easier on the knees.  It's recommended for every age group.  And as far as mall walking is concerned, in the next town over, we have mall-walkers who purposely go to the mall just to walk laps, often in groups, sometimes even going so far as to carry weights with them.  I don't do this, in case you're wondering.  Instead, I use the local trail that's perfect for walking and jogging, plus there's also the park in my small town.  But, I just thought I'd share how they do it in my neck of the woods.

Oh, and I GOT MY BOOKS TODAY IN THE MAIL!  Thank you!  I just have one question, how much was the postage? Money mouth I want to send that out tomorrow.  Appreciate you sending them!!!!

BTW, have you tried gargling warm salt water? It's nasty, but sometimes it helps me....  Smile

Good Morning

I am getting ready for work...We'll see how long I last.  You'd be surprised to know how many people were happy i couldnt talk yesterday.

Amanda, the postage should be on the package.  otherwise, I will dig out the reciept later and let you know.; you are very welcome for the books, just make sure you give them a good home.  And when you are done, find them a loving family.

Just wait....

...their turn is coming.  Everybody loses their voice, or gets very hoarse, at least once in their lives!  Wink

I hate to confess this, I really do.  But my brilliant DH threw away my empty box for the books without knowing.  Guess that teaches me not to leave it on the kitchen counter the evening before trash pick-up, huh?  Can you send me another email with your address and postage?  I hate to be a pain in the patootie!  THANKS! grekanda29@ sbcglobal.net

I have phantom voice syndrom

Twice a year during the change of season. We all look forward to the charades. It used to freak me out at first. Now I enjoy just looking at people blankly when they speak to me. I know it's terrible, but there was a woman complaining about her life in general behind me in a store (and being rather obnoxiuos about it) and I turned around and signed "at least you can complain loudly". She left the line.....

I find that fresh lemon in ginger tea and honey brings my voice back pretty quick. (So does eating a lemon on its own, but that's harsh!)

Hope you're better soon.

I went

to work today and yesterday for part of the day.  I just couldnt take it anymore.  One girl was calling me Mickey Mouse.

I am going to urgent care tomorrow, so I can get my time off excused.

I used to get this all the time.  Sometimes it is acompanied with bronchitis.  During the change of seasons, where it is real warm in the day, and very cool at night.  I also used to live with smokers.

It hasnt happend in a few years.  I no longer live with smokers, so i thought the problem was gone.  Nope, one doc said it was prob allergies.

Who knows...i just want it gone.  the problem, not my voice.

Arrrgh!
