Yep, I signed on an hour ago (it's now almost 8 a.m. MTN time) to blog about a bit that I read in the latest Christine Rimmer story that I'm reading.
I was just going to glance around and get to the blog... then of course I have a review to do for the previous Bravo Brides story that I finished last night... but do I do either of those things?
Nope! The glance that I started with took me nigh on an hour.... That is the true danger of these blogs... they're so much fun to traverse; so many friends to check in on; so many wonderful book reviews to read.... Where was I?
Oh yeah... getting caught up in the blogs.
Ah well, I'm not complaining; I have the morning pretty much to myself Saturdays. My dh and dd's are NOT morning people and I am; so Saturdays I've usually got 4 or more hours to myself... NICE!
So the purpose of this blog ~ What is Love?
This excerpt is taken from Christine Rimmer's The M.D. She HAD to Marry from the Silhouette Signature Select title Bravo Brides., page 336. I read this and just ... WOW! It really resonated within and I just had to share the wisdom. So settle back and I hope that you find it as wise as did I.
Lacey wasn't buying. "And what is love anyway, but something you think? Where else does it exist...except in a person's mind, in whatever it is we call the 'heart'?"
"No," Jenna said, "I'm sorry, I can't agree with you on that."
"What's not to agree with?"
"Most of all, love is what you do. It's a verb. An action word. If you really love, you behave in a loving way."
I don't know just why it hit so hard, but it did. I've been married to a wonderful man for over 24 years; we have four fantastic children ~ okay three of them are adults now, but they're still our "kids" ~ and I grew up in a loving home with amazing parents and five younger siblings. I know what love is... or at least I thought I did.
But these few words just blind-sided me!
Definitely something to ponder on as I go about my day.
This evening we're all getting together at my brother Michael's house to celebrate my mom's 72nd birthday. It will be a lot of fun... but then there will be thoughts of all those that are missing.
My dad, who has been dead these last almost 4 years ~ and my heart breaks all over again for my mom who lost the love of her life. Man, those two were CLOSE!
Three of the grandchildren that are far, far away: my daughter Lisa in Egypt and two of my sister Marianne's four children; Christopher in South America and Amanda in New Zealand.
Then there are my two other brothers: Chris with his wife and daughter, 6 year old Julia, in PEI and the youngest of us all, Jon, in England now these 2+ years.
But then I realize that even if we're not all together in the same place, in many ways, we are all at the same place... and it's called LOVE.
Anyway, that's it... anymore and I expect that I'll start to water the keyboard and that's just not good news.
The review, well I'll get to that later.
BTW, the picture?
Those are my parents' grandchildren... they range in age from 23 (our son Stephen) to 6 yr old Julia, my brother Chris's angel ... and a finer group of people, well, they're a very fine group indeed!
Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!!
