If You Were Restricted to One Harlequin line for life, which one would You Choose?

Please note: this is not about which line is the best or even which you enjoy the most. It’s about which line would you chose as your only line.

For me this is an easy choice. I would select Harlequin Romance for many reasons. Most importantly, HRs are pure romances. They are not mixed genre like mystery romances or vampire romances. Now, before you object, I have enjoyed NASCAR and Medical romances the most  recently but I would not want an exclusive diet of these fine stories.

HR has a great many of my favorite authors and the most traditional romance themes that I favor. HR stories also take place in a wide variety of locations around the world. The heroes and heroines also seem the most like real  people I would know.  Not so many sheiks or billionaires.  With HR you cannot be sure how sensual the story will be which adds a nice element of surprise.  HR is also an ideal place to find new authors that will soon become favorites.

So for me, HR is the one line I could most enjoy as a steady diet and the last one I would want to do without. .  Fortunately, no one is so restricted.

I just thought it would be fun to see what other people think.

Thanks,

Vince

If I had to pick one

I would choose Harlequin Blaze.  I own every book in this set and every new book is an automatic buy each new month.  Great authors and great stories,

Tammy

I could not choose. Mira

I could not choose. Mira Suspense and Historicals is as far down as I can get it. I have always loved suspense and with the historicals I could learn a bit of history.

The problem is that there are many others I would want to choose because variety is important.  As you can see, I have been reading a lot outside of those 2 choices... I think when it comes to Harlequin it really is like the potato chip ad...you can't just read one.

Family Challenge Team: The Spine Breakers with my dh Glenn AKA Phaedrus

I wouldn't like to have to choose but it would be Blaze

followed by Bombshell, followed by SRS Smile

It's HP's for me

I know, I know... I shouldn't admit this but I do like the Presents line.  Besides if I was down to one line for life at least a lot of them are released each month.  8 for sure and then usually another 4 in the special releases.  2nd runner-up would be the Desire line - which is becoming more and more like HP.

Historicals for me

While their are a lot of lines I've discovered and enjoyed, the historicals are where my real interest lies.  I've always wished I could go back in time!

Nocturnes

Because my paranormal fix is what's important to me!  Wink

Tough call, Bombshell if it

Tough call, Bombshell if it still existed would likely be my choice, otherwise either SSE, SRS or HAR.  Tough decision.

Cady

Definitely Blaze...

followed by Intrigue and Romantic Suspense.

Choosing a line

Gee Vince - this is really a hard one.  I love and have added to my keeper book cases books from every line.  But I have to say, I can not part with my Betty Neels books, and since she wrote for Romance, I guess I would have to pick that line.Laughing

Hard choice

I like the SRS and the Nocturnes but only two of those come out a month so I have to go with both. Just can't pick one, so sorry Vince it's two for me.

If I had to choose only one Harlequin Line...

It would be Love Inspired for me.

While I love so many from all the other lines, these stories always leave me with the warmest heart and feeling of satisfaction.  I'd miss the sexy scenes from the Blazes, and I'd be heart-broken to never get to read the rest of Robin Owen's series, but the ones I could not totally give up would be Love Inspired.

 Good Topic, Vince.

I think I'd have to choose

I think I'd have to choose HH.  I love it.  I never get tired of those stories!

Presents for me

I'd go with Presents. They give me a good blend of passion and love. I love stories that have steam, but I want the relationship between the hero/heroine to be unique and the HPs have that. (Once the alpha male falls, he falls hard and is hers)

The next closest for me would be Blazes: Blazes are steamy but the passion grows often between friends/co-workers, and so it's a long-time-coming, meant-for-each-other coming together.  Plus, Blazes aren't hypocritical about heroine's having sex lives too.

The next closest after that would be Desires: but Desires often disappoint me because so often the hero/heroine have been lovers in the past, broken up, went on to have sex with lots of other people over the years (hey, at least it's not hypocritical and both partners indulge), and then eventually get back together. It just makes the relationship between hero/heroine seem less special and it makes all the years they spent apart seem so wasteful, it serves no purpose for them to spend ten years or so apart and unhappy. :(

Besides the Harlequin lines, the other books I read are Paranormal Romances (this includes Nocturnes, but there aren't enough Nocturnes out there to make it a majority of my reading pile). I don't think I could live on a diet of only Paranormal Romances though. I like them a lot, but I like to stick to ones that have a predictable happily eternally after. I know some authors that I can trust to deliver wit, a unique & destined love, passion, HEA: Angela Knight, Nina Bangs, and Amanda Ashley. I also want my paranormal romances to not be pure erotica: I want to read more than just athletic marathon sex, I want love and a connection too. I haven't explored to many different paranormal authors (yet).

Just ONE?

Um, um, um (I'm shaking my head and clucking my tongue).  This is an impossible question for me to answer - LOL!  Can I forget that I'm a writer and just talk about the ones I read?  Probably my choice is the Suspense.  I guess because this one has a little of two genres in it - romance & intriguing suspense.  Though, to be honest, I'd get bored reading just the SRS's.  I like all the Harlequin and Silhouette lines - including Mira, HQN and occasionally Kimani.

If i had to choose just one

If i had to choose just one line, it would have to be Nocturnes.  While i really enjoy many other genres, paranormals are the ones i pick up the most these days.

Kathy D

Vince, this is an interesting topic...

....but a tough one!

I'd have to start with Nocturnes and suspense.  I like having a good action story to carry the romance along.

However, I also love the more traditional lines like Harlequin Romance, HP, and Desire.  And every once in a while, I pick up something from Red Dress Ink.

I can't pick just one.....

It would be nice to have

It would be nice to have more than 2 Nocturnes a month....   *wink*

RE: IF I HAD TO CHOOSE...

It would be Superromances (I feel I get a lot a bang for the buck with them) good, "clean", interesting, heart-touching stories that aren't super-duper long to read, but traditionally longer than Romances. Laughing
