It's Morgan Isle's five hundredth year anniversary and normally employees are forbidden except for this gala. But because Elizabeth Pryce held the position of the queen's personal assistant, she was included on the guest list, She attracts the attention of the king's half brother(the former king had an affair) Ethan Rafferty. She knows nothing can become of the attraction they feel for each other but she is unable to resist his charms and soon end up in her bed. How will he react when he finds out she is the queen's personal assistant? But when they are found out Ethan tells the king they are planning to marry to save her job. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement but Ethan showed no signs of ending it. Until he finds out that she is pregnant.
Both characters are lovable. Ethan is a jerk twice in the book but he sees that he is a jerk. It doesn't take him days or weeks or even months to come to this conclusion. He has no problem admitting he is wrong, saying sorry or begging forgiveness. We can look forward to the sister, Sophie's, story in October but it is left open for more. There is a playboy cousin, Lizzy's friend who has been wronged by the former king and Ethan asks the king if he can find any more illegitimate kids that may be out there from their father's affairs.
