I'm getting back into the Blaze line. I've read some recently I really enjoyed and want to see what else is out there.
I want more than just sex. Give me a great story and likable characters. I had problems with books written around a sexy premise. And I'm not interested in sex with food ( I wouldn't mind a sexy chef though) or paint. I don't need a suspense story or a vampire. I prefer regular people to the rich and famous. And please no strippers, sex toy sellers, writers of sex columns... My favourites are stories with best friends, work mates or strangers. Am I too picky? I would love some recommendations!
Here are some Blaze titles I enjoyed recently:
Beyond Breathless and Beyond Daring by Kathleen O'Reilly (very good) Didn't like Beyond Seduction that much.
Hard and Fast by Lisa Renee Jones (very good)
Major Attraction by Julie Miller (very good)
Flyboy by Karen Foley (very good)
Anything For You by Sarah Mayberry (Keeper)
Thanks so very much!

Blaze titles
Since you brought me up <g>, I'm starting a new Blaze trilogy this month (March 2008). Shaken and Stirred is the first book in the series, and the trilogy is about three brothers who own this bar in NYC. The book is a friends to lovers sort of book. The heroine is losing her apartment, and needs a place to stay, the hero volunteers, because they think they can handle a platonic relationship, and uh stuff happens. :)
Perfect! Exactly what I'm
Perfect! Exactly what I'm looking for :-) Any other titles you want to recommend?
Blazes...
My favorite recent Blaze is Pick Me Up by Samantha Hunter. While the premise is sexy, there is a lot of story, and very likable charaters. Hope that helps!

Thanks Tammy! So I will give
Thanks Tammy! So I will give the author a second try :-)
Stephanie Tyler
Berlin,
You said you didn't need suspense, but I enjoy Stephanie Tyler's Blazes, too. They're close to Suz Brockmann's with a team of military guys, but they're very, very good. Also, Joanne Rock writes some solid romance as well. I apologize for not having titles, but I'm away from my home computer, so I'm ad-hocing here <g>. Oh, oh, oh, and Lori Borrill is a newbie, but she had some regular joe sort of books, as does Samantha Hunter (I think if I remember correctly, will double-check at home).
Oh, I love Suz Brockmann!
Oh, I love Suz Brockmann! And new authors are always fun to try out. I've got Don't Look Back by Joanne Rock tbr soon. Thanks so much for the names!
The very best Blaze
that I have read in the past year and a half was Lori Borrill's Private Confessions. I will admit that this is a steamy read but it is also an emotionally involved book. I loved it!
A few others are :
At Your Command by Julie Miller
Coming Undone by Stephanie Tyler
Shock Wave by Colleen Collins
I love my Blazes. I hope you find the type you are looking for. There are so many wonderful authors writing for Blaze.

Theater scene.......
was GREAT!!! Whew!!! *faninng herself* Another favorite of mine is Just Toying Around by Rhonda Nelson. Very Hot!!!
I just noticed that you requested no "sex toy sellers". I really think you might want to give this one a chance. It's excellent and more than just sex. Here's a blurb: Attorney Nick Deveraux hates his brother’s plan because he feels it is sneaky going against his personal ethics. If Desiree Moon has acted libelelous towards Ron’s Internet company, Guilty Pleasures, Nick prefers suing. However, Ron plays his only hand using their mother as blackmail. Nick knows that Ron has no compunctions to “borrow” from their widowed mom who cannot absorb another assault on her finances. Thus Nick is in a hotel ready prove on-line sex critic Desiree Moon is a fraud. Meg Sugarbaker has no idea how a chef at Atlanta’s exclusive Renaud became a sex expert writing about gadgets for the Emagazine Foreplay when she cannot get a date. When Nick and Meg meet in the hotel sparks fly. However, as they fall in love and he becomes her “boy toy” testing devices, he knows he will have to somehow reveal the truth about his sibling, but hopes that he does not have to choose between his beloved and his loved ones.
Have you tried the TAG CLOUD?
if you click on the tag list to the right of the page, you can use the tags to source books with themes and plotlines that interest you. And yes, even books tagged with BLAZE to read the reviews and determine if you want to read them. I love the tag list.

The D2K Paranormal Junkies ~ 2008 Book Challenge Blog
Notorious by Vicki Lewis Thompson
Is also one of my favs!!! Love it!
A Dash of Temptation by Jo Leigh
I have a list of the books I've read.... and I've tagged only two BLAZE books so far as KEEPERS. One of them is "Anything for You" by Sarah Mayberry, which you said was a keeper for you.
The other one is "A Dash of Temptation". I absolutely loved it. The hero was pure charm. It is quite a sexy read though, and you said you avoided a certain type?
Anyway... I'm posting the description here because it is one of the best BLAZE books I've read! YUM was my reaction.
A Dash of Temptation
Jo Leigh
Harlequin Blaze
Yummy! He's a celebrity who owns a huge magazine, which he reluctantly is the face of for publicity. He hates all the parties but is a charming public figure. He finds out his plant lady needs a date to a party, and he asks her out. She's a funny, open, honest, and sexual person. They have lots of hot sex. Dash the hero is amazingly real and quirky and sexy. He touches his nipple and winks at one point, awesome strip tease. They begin an affair, but he tells her from the start he can't be a typical boyfriend. Eventually it's not enough for her. It's not enough for him either.
Dash....
Was a good one Janet!!!
Another "Friends-to-Lovers" book... from Silhouette Desire
I've looked at my "Keepers" list.... and found another "Friends-to-Lovers" story tagged. This one isn't a Blaze book though, it's Silhouette Desire.
I 100% recommend "What are Friends For?" by Naomi Horton! This book was insanely good. Every touch between them just made me fall in love with love.
Here's my entry for that keeper...

What Are Friends For
Naomi Horton
Silhouette Desire
They have been friends (blood brothers) for 20 years. They tried sex once when she was 17 or 18, but he married someone else. He's had two failed marriages. This book picks up after the second divorce comes through, she's there for him. They work together, he's her boss. They get along so smoothly, they are perfect friends and there is this basic attraction between them that just makes them want to touch each other (whether it's sexual or not). The intimacy between these two people is absolutely amazing. They are so close, every touch between them made me fall a little in love with love. Their conflict was good. I have put this on my list of "my absolute fav books, must re-read sometime". Rating: 5/5 stars, I'd give it more stars if I could. Read this book, it will not disappoint! It's steamy and the love is so strong! It makes you wish you had a relationship like this.

* holy steamy batman! Best friends to lovers book ever!
Thanks Julz!
I had the chance to read Naturally Naughty by Leslie Kelly and Naughty but Nice by Jill Shalvis and enjoyed them both. Yes, the scene in the theatre was HOT. Okay, I'm off to look for the other titles :-)
Janet...
I'm definitely looking for "A Dash of Temptation" and "What Are Friends For", especially as you liked "Anything for You" by Sarah Mayberry. :-)

You will enjoy them. They were KEEPERS for me and I'm quite picky about what makes a "keeper" for me. I very very rarely re-read books.... so for me, not too many books get keeper status.
I added....
Anything for You to my list too. I don't think I've read that before either. Thanks for the recommendation Janet!
I forgot........
Show and Tell by Rhonda Nelson
Berlin
I really liked Daring in the Dark by Jennifer LaBrecque and I concur with Julz Notorious by Vicki Lewis Thompson is a keeper.

I had walked away from
I had walked away from Blaze, as it didn't seem like a line for me, but recently was pulled back in by all the great reviews of Kathleen O'Reilly's Sex Straight Up - they were definately deserved. I haven't read the others in the trilogy, but will. A great story and highly recommended..
