With so many familiar characters waiting in the wings for stories of their own, Ms Palmer slips in a surprise with totally new characters and an introduction of yet another mysterious fellow.
Jared Cameron is a Texan, transplanted and living in Oklahoma City until tragedy and intrigue brings him to Jacobsville, TX. Sara is a young bookseller with a budding artistic talent, looking forward to one day publishing children’s books. The two dislike each other upon first meeting, but seem drawn together and ultimately decide to be each other’s family in times of need, but can danger and seduction mix?
I’ve been a DP fan for years, and of late, most of her category books have seemed a little cookie cutter to me. This book however, does at times, remind me of some of her older books. The age difference between H/h is a bit drastic, as was some of her earlier titles, and the H’s relationship with his attorney was annoying, but Tony the Dancer proved to be entertaining as well as catching up with more of the Jacobsville crowd.
I’ll look forward to seeing Tony in the future and just wonder who his real boss is? Is it some one we know or is new intrigue in the future?
If you’re looking for a hint of mystery and a glimpse into some of the lives of those Long Tall Texans from the past, then this is the book for you. I’d be interested in hearing views from you all who have already read this installment.

I really liked this one too
I really liked this one too, but the age difference in this one was even more extreme than most. I did like that the tale was a bit less cookie cutter like also.
