I know that today is a Tuesday but I think it was a Monday in disguise! All day I felt like Garfield in those comic strips, just waiting for Monday to pounce on me. Most of the day had just the usual annoyances but it was the way the day started that let me know it was Monday in disguise. I tried to set the house on fire... no, not on purpose! Apparently in my sleepy haze, I forgot to turn the burner off this morning. The scent of smoke let me know what was going on... because of COURSE my smoke detector didn't go off. *sigh* I suppose that is why they tell you to change the batteries regularly, right? On the positive side, no real damage was done other than the lovely scent of eau de smoke still permeating the air tonight!

It was tuesday for me...
but I know some people didnt go to work or school yesterday, because of the holiday.
But I worked yesterday, so it wasnt a holiday for me, and no holiday pay.

Seemed more like Thursday to me
Guess because I worked Monday - not a holiday at my job either. It rained, got stuck in traffic on the way in and the way home. This is going to be a very long week. And I am very sad. My 14 year old dog in my picture is not doing well. She won't eat and cannot stand as of today. We are giving her water from a medicine tube. We're taking her to the vet tomorrow and I am certain they will put her to sleep. I don't want to lose her but I cannot let suffer.
Tammy
Oh no!
All my sympathy about your dog. They are truly family members and it is NEVER easy to make decisions like that.

Thanks
Funny, I was so strong in front of my daughter. She's just 9 and this is breaking her heart too. But, the minute she went to sleep, I started crying and can't seem to stop. Thanks for your kind thoughts. Our male sheltie, Duke, died in July 2006 at age 11. Dallas our wonder dog made it almost 2 more years. She would turn 15 on February 7. This picture was taken Jan 1st this year. It's amazing how she went from bad to worse so quickly. Almost overnight.

poor doggie
When my doggie got sick, the vet said to give him ice cubes.
they will keep him hydrated, but not upset his stomach.

Got Books?
Oh, you're breaking my heart...
That is just so sad! I hope you get better news than you expect tomorrow but all my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this.

so sorry to hear about your
so sorry to hear about your dog Yena. I'd be completely heart broken if anythign happened to any of my cats, and I've had them a lot less time than you have your dog. When our black lab mix died many years ago, it was very difficult for us all. She was completely healthy one day and the next she couldn't even stand up. I don't know if they ever did figure out what happened. All the vet told us (or that Mom told us anyhow) was that she had internal bleeding. We were so afraid we were going to have to make the decision to put her down. But she barely made it to the vet's office before she died. So we were spared that difficult choice. It was several years before I stopped swearing I heard her tags on her collar jingling as she ran through the house. And that was when Mom and Dad got a new dog.
I'm actually convinced she was still with us all that time, watching out for us and protecting us. When we got a new dog she felt like she could leave us. Never heard her tags again after that.
It tore me up though when she died. So my heart goes out to you.

So sad . . .
I feel for you and your dd. I was 7 when our first dog was put to sleep. I had no warning either. He had been having internal problems (when he peed it was blood - not good). It broke my heart. Our next 2 dogs were put to sleep too (we never get past age 7). They were allergic to something in the grass and literally bit thru almost to bone on their front legs. Mom couldn't watch them suffer. The only medicine they could have to stop it would eventually kill them. Our next dog we had to give away when my parents divorced. We couldn't take her to our apartment and dad didn't want the responsibility. Got her a good home. Pretty sure she lived past 7
I will keep you in my prayers.

Sympathy
My sympathy too on the passing of your pup. When we lost our dog I was sure it would be a hard decision to put him down. It ended up being the easiest thing I had to do emotionally...but physically I still miss him, and it's been 10 years!
