July Dear Reader

Dear Readers and Friends,

Last month I announced that I’d finished my next Medical Romance novel, Invasion of the Medics (my tongue in cheek title).  I’m happy to tell you that after revising and editing, I submitted it.  Two weeks later I received my revisions and am diligently working on them.  I am so pleased that my editor likes the story, and the revisions don’t seem extensive, so that’s a big plus!  I loved writing this book (I love writing all of my books, but some are more special to me than others) and hope that next year I will be able to share it with you as my seventh published Mills and Boon Medical romance. Stay tuned for the next update.

Speaking of published books, next month will be a publishing Milestone for me.  My fifth bookfor Harlequin Mills & Boon, Pregnant Nurse, New-Found Family (my allergy book) will be in the stores in the United Kingdom and in October, it will be published here in the US.  I will have a special celebration contest next month with an equally special prize, so be sure to check back.

Another fun package arrived in June.  My South African author’s copies of my third book, In His Angel’s Arms or as the title of the book reads in Afrikaanse: In sy engel se arms by Lynne Marshall.  I never get tired of seeing the lovely translations of my books, and I can’t begin to tell you how fortunate I feel.  Thank you Harlequin Mills & Boon for believing in my stories and for publishing my books, and continued happy 100th Mills & Boon birthday wishes for the remainder of 2008!

Every year the RWA, Romance Writers of America, have a national conference.  This year it’s in San Francisco, California, at the end of July.  A couple thousand authors show up and have a ball with workshops, promo ops, literacy signings, and favorite author sightings such as Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockmann, and Linda Howard, not to mention a gazillion of my favorite Harlequin category, HQN, and MIRA authors.  I will be attending, and promise to take lots of pictures and to share them with you next month on my website.  If you live in the area, I will be participating in the Literacy for Life book signing on Wednesday, July 30th at 6:00 pm.  I’m also looking forward to meeting a few of my online Aussie Medical Romance author friends – Amy Andrews, half of Emily Forbes (sounds amazing doesn’t it?) and Fiona McArthur. I'm sure Olivia Gates will be there, too.  I’ve said it before, but you may not know that Fiona Mc A is the reason I write for the Medical Romance line.  When I bought her book at the Literacy Signing in New York in 2003, she invited me to the Medical Romance meet and greet (except it sounded more like Might and Gright.  Don't you just love Aussie accents?) where I met my future editor, Kimberley Young.  Thank you a thousand times over, Fiona!  I can’t wait to finally meet you ladies in person.  First drink is on me!

Have a great fourth of July fellow US of A'ers!

Best Wishes,
Lynne Marshall

I'd like to encourage any readers who can

to go! Last year it was 35 miles away in Dallas. I went to the literacy signing. (I got a list of the authors off the RWA site and highlighted the ones I wanted to see. We were allowed to take up to 5 books inside with us and of course, buy lots and lots of books from the authors! It was very noisy, but that's okay!).

On Thursday of last year's RWA, I went to the Harlequin PJ party. Jayne said that all community members were invited, so I assume that will be the case this year if they do that again. It was much smaller and tons of fun. Fewer people there, so I got to visit with them better. I put a nametag on my front and back with my online name, so people knew right away that they wanted to approach (or avoid!) me. Rae squealed and hugged when she saw my nametag!

If I had the $$, I'd go to San Fran just to meet the Aussies and whoever else . . .

Anyway, I really do encourage any readers who can make it to go to anything open to the public. There were some other things going on that I didn't make it to . . . check out the RWA site and your favorite authors' sites, too.
