- KISS ME DEADLY receives CataNetwork's Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Series Romance (July-Dec)
- KISS ME DEADLY is nominated for Romantic Times magazine's Best Series Romance - Silhouette Nocturne
- Jayne decides to finally read KISS ME DEADLY (Jan 08) and it's about TIME!!!
Kiss Me Deadly is the second book in Michele's Bewitching the Dark series that
features sexy vampires and mysterious witches. She says in her Dear Reader letter that she was struck by the idea of doing a sort of 'reverse romance'. This, I thought, is exactly what? Michele explains "What if you had no choice but to fall madly in love at very first sight? Would that be a good thing? Would you learn to love for real, beyond the spell that had made you love for fake? And what if the person you fell in love with was the one person on this earth you hated so much you wished them dead?"
All I can say is....WOW! And then, did you SEE the cover?
I've read a few Vampire stories, and have become fairly well acquainted with the commonly held conventions of Vamp behavior (the sun burns them, they drink blood etc), but it was really interesting to read about witches and Ravin was fascinating. She was feisty yet vulnerable and her back story and motivation were written with sympathy and creativity. I particularly enjoyed Michele's portrayal of the devil, whom she referred to as Himself and her trademark sense of humor shone through Ravin's exchanges with him....AND the hero. The scenes where Nikaulas' is declaring his obsession with Ravin and struggling with his tribal loyalties would have been hokey in less capable hands. This book was a definite two thumbs up, and if you don't believe me, you can get a taste..hehehe (get it?) here.
Oh, and ONE more thing, if you like coloring books, Michele is your girl! Over on the Luna boards, Michele and Sapphire (our board host) have a few coloring books circulating where everyone who signs up gets a page in the mail to color, so if you'd like to get involved, by all means sign up to participate.
