This is a book i bought and tried to read(almost 100 pages) shortly after it came out., but i just couldn't get into it enough to stick with it to the end, so i put it aside. But with all the rave reviews, by people i usually have very similar reading tastes with, i figured maybe i was in the wrong reading mood at the time. So i planned to give it another go one day.
Recently I was recommended that when I try it again, to try not to compare it to JRWards, BDB series, so that's what i did, reading from the beginning again cause i couldn't remember anything anymore, and it worked. I really enjoyed this story and the main characters, and now look forward to reading book#2.
Does it compare to the Brothers stories...not even close imho, but it's still really good.

Glad you enjoyed the book - I've really liked the series. The BDB do win hands down - but unless JRW is going to produce 1 book a month (or more!) we have to find other good paranormal writers (and vampires!) to get our fix!

I am glad you liked this one. I actually came across her by accident and I loved the rest of the books in this series. I came across her books before I came across J.R. Wards and of course I love them too. I agree JRW is my favorite but Lara's series is my second favorite.

I'm with you...JRW doesn't produce nearly enough paranormal/vampire books to keep my addiction fed either.

Lucky you to have read this series first. I'm thinking had i read this one first, i likely would've been alot more blown away by it the first time.

I thought it also reminded me of Kenyon's series. Maybe a bit from both. I liked this but I like Ward's and then Keri Arthur's much more.

the Dark Hunter series but the more I think about it I really meant Feehan's Carpathians with the whole vampire thing. I was a little confused another senior moment. I'm counting down till LE, it's marked on my calendar, like I'd forget that one, other things yes but not that!!

I had a bit of trouble deciding how to rate this one. While i did really enjoy it, there've(is this a word?) been books i've enjoyed alot more that i've given 4 stars to. But it was also much better than a 3 or 3.5. I guess in the end i figured 4 was close enough. lol

I've read good reviews on this author's books but haven't read them yet. Should give it a try sooner rather than later. Come to think of it, I think I have one of hers in my massive tbr bookshelf. Yep, I do... called Kiss of Midnight. I think I bought it because JR Ward reviewed it on the cover.
