I had heard a /lot/ of good things about debut author Rhyannon Byrd around the office, so when her first book, /Last Wolf Standing/ was available, I knew I had to read it. And I didn't just read it; I flew through it in one night (right after finishing another book). Its story was so compelling that I didn't notice time slipping away and ended up going to bed a great deal later than I should have! lol
It was so easy to get into this story, which isn't always the case in fantasy world. As soon as Blood Runners Mason and Jeremy made an appearance, I immediately thought of the brothers in "Supernatural" and I was comfortable with the setting...not to mention intrigued by how hot these guys were!
In a nutshell, Blood Runners are werewolves who track down and execute rogue lychens who have begun killing humans. A bit of the back story is revealed in this book. I won't spoil it, but the premise is really, really good. The front story deals with Mason finally meeting his life mate, Torrence, and her immersion into this new world.
I was cheering for Torry in many scenes as she shows she's a great deal tougher than she looks, both physically and emotionally, and pushes hottie Mason to really question some long-established ways. Can't wait for the next book that features Jeremy! Way to go, Rhyanna, you've totally got me hooked!
