Newish Harlequin Romance author who really shines. Great Addition to the HR authors! opposites really do attract.
Josie Peterson wanted to get away from it all after caring for her sick dying father, but did her brothers really have to pick this desolate end of the world place for a retreat. Wildlife of all sorts and nothing, and I mean nothing, of the finer things of life....except one fine addition, Kent Black, her only neighbor and landlord. The last thing Kent really wants is interference in his cherished solitude, especially a needy woman. He may think that but with each encounter, her shining personality and quirkiness melts his heart. When two hearts come together and danger draws them even nearer, love isn't far behind.
What a romance! Fantastic heroine and hero. Josie's energy and even her difficulties in this new environment are fun, humorous and heart-moving all in one. Kent is sexy, a bit tough as he defends his solitude, but from the very beginning his goodness shines through that tough exterior. Molly the dog is a real heart-stealer! If you love romance and dogs, this one is a must read. Very well-written, very emotional, sweet and fun with just a nice bit of suspense too.
From what I gather, Michelle Douglas is a relatively new Harlequin romance author with her debut being His Christmas Angel (Dec. 2007). After reading this one, am I ever glad I bought that one too even if I haven't had time yet to go back into my HR TBR. It's still available and I have read great reviews about it and now i see why.
Wow! So far I have read 5 of the 6 April Harlequin Romances and I am one happy reader. April is one great month for this line!

I think Michelle was the only new author to HR last year...in fact, she might be the first after I got on board in July of 06....it's very exciting!

Oh, paisley, what a beautiful review. I'm so glad you liked the book. Yes, I am still such a new author that the idea of people actually liking my books is the biggest buzz (and sometimes makes me a bit sniffly). I have a feeling, though, that isn't something that is ever going to go away.

The Edge of the World
What does relate to your book, is that I got a particualr thrill from reading your landscape descriptions. First, they were just beautiful and I was totally drawn into the story and the landscape period. On another level, when I read those beautiful descriptions, I kept thinking I just had to tell you about THE EDGE OF THE WORLD in Bennington, Vermont.

Edge of the world
This made me laugh out loud, Paisley! And if I ever make it to Vermont, I am definitely going to hunt this place up.
Descriptions, hmmm. I'm glad you liked mine. It's funny, I never think of myself as being a particularly descriptive writer, which probably means I work harder at trying to get it right. I had an added incentive for the description of the areas in this book, though - my sister LOVES the Gloucester Valley and would love to live there. So I had to do my best to get it right. (She loved the book and thought I was spot on in my description of the area, btw)
