LONG-LOST SON: BRAND-NEW FAMILY by Lilian Darcy

coverSYNOPSIS:  Is she doing the right thing?

Janey Stafford  has found herself the caretaker for her nephew, Felixx (later nicknamed Rowdy).  She heads to Crocodile Creek since that is where his father, Luke, is a doctor. But does Luke want to be a father?  Meanwhile, a cyclone has wreaked havoc and Rowdy still hasn't said a single word....

MY THOUGHTS:  This book touched me deeply as I could easily relate to the aftereffects of a hurricane (cyclone, whatever you want to call it).  Lilian Darcy did a beautiful job at evoking the emotions and the sense of community that can occur after such a devastating natural disaster.

The issues regarding Rowdy are very sensitively addressed.  I wasn't surprised by the revelations concerning his lack of speech but was impressed by how the author handled it.  In addition, the relationship between Janey and Luke became very believable~ which is interesting as normally books where two formerly related (even by marriage) folks end up in a relationship is normally a sort of no-no for me in a book.  But Lilian Darcy made me believe that this relationship between Janey and Luke IS right and WILL work.  All in all, another very satisfying read from the Harlequin Medical line!

was a new author to me but one I'm going to be checking out some of her other books for sure.  Lady A, I can't wait to see your reaction to some more of the HMR line as I'm definitely hooked!

Great review Deb! You

Great review Deb! You really captured this book.

I know what you mean.  I am addicted to this line.  I like how this book took public health (the disaster) down to the personal level.  Loved the others too for their look at how hurricanes/cyclones can affect a whole community.
