Looking for Paranormal Romance Recommendations

Hey there, I have recently been getting hooked on paranormal romances.  I love books by Nina Bangs and Angela Knight.  I particularly like their series: The Mackenzie Vampires, the Wicked Brothers, The Magiverse.  They have created a continuity, a universe of paranormal creatures with their own rules about relationships and bonding.  I love that one story spills into another, and that the story just keeps on going book by book, with characters we've learned to care about supporting each story.

I'm running out of Angela Knight and Nina Bangs books to read though....  so are there any paranormal fans out here who understand what I like and can recommend some authors/series for me?

I've read the occasional Amanda Ashley paranormal romance too, but they just aren't sensual enough for me and they aren't as wonderful a magical universe as the ones that NB and AK have created.  I don't feel as drawn in.

I'm also reading the occasional Nocturne romance, and I'm enjoying them, though I am finding them a little "tame" compared with the NB and AK books which just knock you silly with their passion.

Would love suggestions...

Preferably no historicals...

Preferably no historicals... I like that the hero/heroines are often hundreds of years old... or a thousand!  It means they have survived a lot and are powerful.  But I like for them also to have a contemporary element and take place in the present day.....

Janet

I don't know if you have read any of JR Wards books but if not I STRONGLY recommend that you do.  She just put out the 6th book in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series!!

What about Keri Arthur (A Riley Jenson Guardian Novel)?

Or Lara Adrian?

A soul suffocated by fear leaves too many joys unlived...Maria Housden.

Have you read any of the

Have you read any of the Christine Feehan books? There are a bunch of series starting with my favorite is: the Dark Series, Drake sisters, Ghostwalkers, Predatory Games.

Nancy

How about Karen

How about Karen Chance?

Colleen Gleason (The Gardella Vampire Chronicles)

Patricia Briggs (A Mercy Thompson Novel)

Lynsay Sands (An Argeneau Novel)

A soul suffocated by fear leaves too many joys unlived...Maria Housden.

The sum total of my

The sum total of my paranormal romance experience: Nina Bangs, Angela Knight, Amanda Ashley, some Nocturnes, and a few anthologies that contained AK, AA, and misc. authors (I found the anthologies a little unsatisfying, I didn't get as drawn into the story, too short I guess)

I haven't tried any other authors, so I'm completely out of the loop....

What's the BEST THING about the authors you're recommending?  There's so many paranormal authors out there, I don't know where to start....  I would like to read authors that have a similar style to Nina Bangs or Angela Knight though....

Thanks for the recommendations, it gives me a place to start!

Hi Janet!

Definitely JRW - she got me hooked on paranormal.  I also like Lynn Viehl and her Darkyn series.  However, they are much more intense and darker than the BDB.

I also like Jennifer Armintrout's Blood Ties series.  Book 4 just came out this month.  They are little different as they are told in the first person POV.  I'm not fussy on that POV but I really enjoyed them.

Lara Adrian is good too. I've read a few Christine Feehan and enjoyed them.  The Drake sisters series is really good.  I haven't seen new releases lately but Dara Joy had some really good books out - and very hot too.

These may not be to your taste as neither write like NB or AK but Kay Hooper's Bishop Trilogies are the best.  Not a lot of sex in them but excellent series.  The stories revolve around Noah Bishop and his Special Crimes Unit in the FBI - they are all psychic.  Except for one book (Bishop's story) he usually has a minor role and his group takes center stage.  KathyD is hooked and actually just recently blogged Book 3, Noah's story.

Another author who cannot write quickly enough for me is TJ MacGregor - she's usually in the fiction section rather than romance.  She has a wonderful series starring Mira Morales who is psychic and her boyfriend Shep. an FBI agent.  She wrote about 5 books for them and last year started a new series about time travel.  Excellent.  I can hardly wait until the fall when the next one is released!

Have you tried Lora Leigh's Breed series?  Excellent and very hot.  The first ones released by Ellora's Cave are definitely erotica.  The last few released by a mainstream publisher are still very hot but not quite as explicit.  There are a number of Challengers hooked on that series.

Hope this helps!  Good luck!

We all LOVE JR Wards

We all LOVE JR Wards books.  They are about a band of brothers, all vampires, who have to protect their race from slayers.  These are good vamps who have all had troubled pasts.  They have to overcome their pasts and they find mates in the process all while fighting in the war between themselves and the Lessers (which are the slayers who are out to kill them).

The books are:

1. Dark Lover

2. Lover Eternal

3. Lover Awakened

4. Lover Revealed

5. Lover Unbound

6. Lover Enshrined (which just came out last week)

There will be a Compendium out this October which gives all kind of backround info, a short story, and interactions between the brothers that have happened on JR's message boards.

7. Lover Avenged (out Jan 2009)

plus more to follow after that.

These books must be read in order as each book leads off of the next.  And each book has the main character of course but also some of the other characters.  You get to see them again after their own book which is great!  JR Ward is a true talent!!

Another great author is Gena Showalter.  She has many different paranormals out there.  Her series are usually not to long and she has vampires to nymphs to dragons.  I have read several of her books and have really enjoyed them all.

A soul suffocated by fear leaves too many joys unlived...Maria Housden.

Ok, these comments are

Ok, these comments are helping me narrow down what might be in line with my interests.....

I'm curious about JRW... sounds like the intensity I like, and it sounds like she's created a great world/continuity.  I'm tempted.  What's this about it being dark though?  Is it depressing?   NB is light humour and rompy sex.  AK is intense destined mating with rompy sex, usually with life and death battles.  Am I going to find the DARKNESS of JRW too much?

Jennifer Armintrout....  I looked at her books and was tempted...  but I'm not sure about it.  If I'm thinking about the same person you are, then she writes the story of the heroine, and the heroine's story isn't a one-shot, but there are multiple books about her adventures.  I would prefer to read books where at the end, we get a clear cut HEA for one couple, and the next book in the series moves on to a new couple.

Kay Hooper....  not a lot of sex you say?  *disappointed*  I love the intensity of blood lust, it's what draws me most to paranormal romances.  I think I read a book by her called "Enchanted" that had three of her early books.  (yup, I just checked and it's on my shelf, I remember loving that)

TJ MacGregor.... she's filed under FICTION?  God I haven't stepped out of the romance section of book stores and libraries since I was a kid reading Nancy Drews and every book ever written by LM Montgomery.

JR Ward....  ok you guys

JR Ward....  ok you guys are turning me towards this author.  The series sounds like the same kind of series that NB and AK have written: where you see one couple get their HEA, then the next book is a new couple.  I love that it sounds like the couples are DESTINED MATES.  I love the idea of that intense love and sexual bond.  Mmmmm.  I'm intrigued.

Kind of stinks though that they aren't stand alone.  If I get REALLY into the series I'll have to go hunting and shell out cash for ALL of the books instead of waiting for them to trickle into the libraries and UBS.

Another positive thing about JR Ward...  I've seen her name on the covers of Angela Knight books.  JR Ward was giving AK's books the thumbs up.  So I guess they are peers in the same circuit.

If you like Angela

If you like Angela Knight then you'd probably like J.R. Ward, Lora Leigh, Keri Arthur, Rachel Vincent only two books & they're MIRA , Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews also two books. I love all these writers. Then if you want eH line try the Nocturnes The Dark Gate, Dark Deceiver by Pamela Palmer are both great, Lori Devoti Pat White just to name a few. I'm sorry I listed so many but if you go to our blog you'll see we read a lot of para. Deb

Janet - you can't go wrong with JRW..

and when I mentioned dark I meant Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series not JRW's BDB series.  Not that the BDB is all light-hearted and full of games - it has it's moments too and a couple of the stories are intense.

Definitely read them in order or you will miss out in so much.  You'll find when reading Books 3 you'll have a ah-ha moment remembering something from Book 1.  She's a great author to drop in these little teasers and bits of info that don't take shape until later on.

I hope you can find them in the UBS - I don't usually see many here in BC.  I guess everyone hangs on to them!  I know that they are still for sale on Amazon.

BTW - do you have Valu Village stores in Ontario?  I just started book shopping there in the last year and find they have tons of older Harlequins.  I'm like you I've read most of the 2000 - to date ones, so I'm always looking for some older ones.

OH!   *HAPPY SQUEAL* My

OH!   *HAPPY SQUEAL*

My local library has FIVE of the JR Ward books!!!  Yay!  The first five are there.  Mmmmmm.  I'm excited!  I'm going to reserve them.

Valu Village... yeah there are stores around.  I've heard of it but I've never been inside one myself.

Holy crap.  The JR Ward

Holy crap.  The JR Ward books are 500 pages?  Wow.  For a girl who usually reads HPs, SDs, and some Nocturnes, that's a large leap in page numbers.  I love the Angela Knight books which are longer because they have MORE story, more passion, and it's just more to love.  I assume it's the same with the JR Ward books since everyone is waxing poetically over them!  *grin*

Hi Janet

I'm going to chime in here about the J.R. Ward books. I've not read books by NB and AK so I can not tell you how J.R. Ward compares. I will just tell you that Kathy D kept raving about Dark Lover and how she wanted me to read it as we also have some similar taste in reading. Finally, I checked my library and they had the first two books so I ordered Dark Lover.

I was so hooked and just loved it and had to follow up with Lover Eternal. Oh boy! Yum! I loved the intense desire between the main characters. The battle between the Brothers and the Lessers is also very intense. I was on pins and needles waiting for book 3 which is Z's story because I wanted him so badly to have a HEA and it did not disappoint me. I loved it. There are aspects of the book that are very dark and sometimes I am not so thrilled with what is happening with them but Ward writes these guys in a way that you are just rooting for them to overcome the bad stuff and find love.

Right now, I actually have the latest book right here in front of me to read. I have not read it yet and have been hesitating. . . why? Because the last book was more intense and didn't satisfy me as much as the others. That was the first one that did not satisfy like the others but all books in a series can satisfy all the time. Still, it is a must read and I really want to know what is going on with these guys. I also must read Phury's story after book 3. I must! So, here I am tonight going to start it.

These books do have a lot of violence and some of the rituals are, oh dear god what are they doing, kind of moments. . . and there are dark things that have happened and are still happening to the characters. . . but you just really fall for these guys and want the HEA so bad for them because of these things. . . I hope with this new book that I will not be disappointed. . . I will let you know . . . but either way. . . I really love the other books and I also agree that these are books that must be read in order.

Another series that I recommend and I just LOVE is the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh. OH I love the series so much. You must read it. Yum Yum. I think you might enjoy this one. These are not as intense as the Ward series. I don't think many books that I have read are. However, I love the world that Nalini Singh has created. I love the Pack and how they are such touchers. Yum. If you do read it, I think they should be in order to. After you read book one, yum, you might want to find, but do not have to, the anthology which is called An Enchanted Season, is about Nate and Tamsin. They are a couple already married in book one and this story is about how they come together. I love these books and can't wait for September when the next one is out.

I have also just started Lara Adrian's Breed series. I am really enjoying these. I have only read up to book two which I recently blogged. I am going to be getting the next one soon.

I think you are reading the Nocturne series by Rhyannon Byrd right? Love those. I also love the Nocturne series by Vivi Anna. So far only two books. I loved book two even more than book one and I'm looking forward to the next one. Also, I loved The Dark Gate by Pamela Palmer. I have the second book to read and have heard good things about it too.

Margie :)

Value Village

I could spend hours browsing the books in that store and when I visit my sister in Mississauga that VV has an even bigger selection.

Janet sounds like you are near a super library.

Sorry can't help with recommendations don't read a lot of paranormal. Have a few Nina Bangs though. I'm thinking of trying those Nocture Bites though

Recommendations...

Deb named most of the authors I was going to recommend, but no surprise since we have such similar tastes.  JR Ward is VERY intense, very sensual and passionate, and the heroes are very tortured heroes.  Nalini Singh is another one that I think is comparable to Angela Knight.  I just read one you would probably enjoy, IN HER WILDEST DREAMS by Kimberly Dean~ very passionate, paranormal with a great mythology.  It's the second in a series but I haven't read the first so can't tell you how that one is but this one did stand alone. Karen Chance, Ilona Andrews, and Patricia Briggs are excellent but more urban fantasy so not sure how those would work for you. Alyssa Day is another author I enjoy.  I'll stop here but I'm going to try to think of who are some authors more along the Nina Bangs line since mainly I'm naming ones more like Angela Knight....

I really like

Lara Adrian's books.  They are similar to Ward's on the surface, but once you get in to them the difference is there.  I love them.

I just read my first Kresley Cole a few weeks ago.  It was interesting.  I've already purchased the rest of the series to read.

And I just read/reviewed Rhyannon Byrd's (sp?) second book in her Bloodrunners series.  They are all still available for purchase in the Nocturne line.  http://www.eharlequin.com/author.html?authorid=1701

hmmmm....

Yeah, those JR Ward books are good, also Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter series, Laurel K Hamkilton's Anita Blake Series, and her Merry Gentry series....Karen Marie Monig's Highlander, and Fever books....lets see, who else.....Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series (a little comedy to go with your drama). And oh.....Tanya Huff's Blood Books (on which the Bloodties TV series is based).  I think thats it.

Terri
Got Books?

Janet, I haven't read the

Janet, I haven't read the authors you've mentioned. But you did say that they write intense passionate stories. Christine Feehan has created her other world vampire like, but not vampires. They wake at night, go to ground by day. Talk about tortured males, they will go to the dark side (turn to vampires) if they don't find their life mates. Intense, passionate, well written.

Nancy

So many awesome authors

So many awesome authors that immediately come to mind have already been listed here for you.  But there's one really HOT one i'd like to second for you: Lora Leigh's Breed series (lots of heat in these awesome stories). With LL's stories, while i love them, i skim most of the sex scenes cause they are way much for me...but right up your alley sounds like.

If you occasionally like your paranormal humorous...there are several awesome stories of those we could all recommend you as well.  Just say the word.

Paranormal ideas

I really like Christine Feehans Dark series.  I just recently read a few of Karen Marie Moning's Highlander books which were great.  I didn't think they could get any better but from what I read on the boards the other books may.  I will have to read and see myself.  Sandy Blair has some great books in the paranormal area as well.  I have 'A Highlander for Christmas' on my TBB list. I also heard great things about Kresley Cole books and just recently bought one, though it is not read yet. And you probably already know about Linsay Sands and her paranormals.  They are all good without getting real heavy.  Smile

Looking For Paranormal Romance Recommendations

Lora Leigh- The Breed Series

Christine Feehan- The Dark Series

Sherrilyn Kenyon - I liked her first ten books Particullary the Hunters.

Cathy Clamp &  C T Adams The Moon Series

Nalini Singh

These are a few of my favourites. Please read and tell me what you think.

Lori Devoti! Her world

Lori Devoti! Her world building comes from Norse mythology ---- contemporary with an awesome lengendary background.

Just read my first Nina Bangs (Eternal Plesaure) and it was great...funny and sexy.

I am not as caught up on my Nocturne reads as others but Nina Bruhns has the sexiest one I have read so far.  I Loved Michele Hauf's Familiar Stranger which has a very contemporary British mod feel.  I loved Linda Winstead Jones's Raintree book but did not like the rest of the series as much as hers.

AKA Merri
Family Challenge Team: The Spine Breakers with my dh Glenn AKA Phaedrus

Paisley...  I've bought

Paisley...  I've bought two Lori Devoti books, Unbound and Guardian's Keep (I heard you needed to read the first one first, so I just only recently bought it.)    About Michelle Hauf, I've read and liked Kiss Me Deadly by her.

Kathleen....  About Lora Leigh, for some reason I associate her with Ellora's Cave.  Is she an author for that?  I don't know how I'd feel about her yet, haven't read anything by her.  But I've skimmed a few Ellora's Cave books and found them a little too sex-without-emotion.  I love the idea of a happily ever eternally after, a destined mate for life, and from what I've seen the connection between the hero/heroine is more of a sexy interlude than anything else.  So I hesitate...

BTW...  UPDATE...  I've been reading nonstop, and I've read the first two JR Ward books, Dark Lover and Lover Eternal.  Um...  yum.  I really got into them.  Great series.  The next three JR Ward books are in transit and I'll be reading them asap!  *grin*

Janet

I'm not Kathleen but I'm gonna jump in here...

Lora Leigh has the first of her Breed series published under Ellora's Cave and then Berkley picked them up starting with Megan's Mark.  Megan's Mark was the first breed book that I read and I loved it.  Lora Leigh writes incredibly erotic romance, but they are so emotionally tied to the characters.  Her talent truly amazes me.  I am a HUGE Lora Leigh fan.  What she has written of the Breeds for Berkly stands alone nicely.

  • Megan's Mark

  • Harmony's Way

  • Tanner's Scheme (my favorite!)

  • Dawn's Awakening

I have an extra copy of Harmony's Way if you would like it I'd be more than happy to send it to you.  Email me anytime... jillwymer@yahoo.com  (No one worry, I don't mind posting my email addy for the world to see... it's fine)

I dislike the covers on the Ellora's Cave books and do my best not to buy them.  I always thought that they looked cheap.  But I had to buy LL's stuff after reading the first of the Breed books.  They are just that good.  And since then I've branched out to a few other author's that write for EC.

Hey Jilly, thanks for the

Hey Jilly, thanks for the offer.  That's nice of ya, but I think for now I'll just keep an eye out for books by her at the bookstore.  If anything specifically appeals to me, then I'll give it a try.  I'll keep an open mind.

Glad that's there's plot and emotional involvement as well as great sex.  *grin*  When sex gets too athletic and when there's just no emotion there...  it gets boring to me, even if you've got multiple orgasms every chapter!    Great sex combined with intense love and destined mating....  that's what I like.

Hi Janet

Wow, you are fast. I'm glad to know that you enjoyed the Brothers as much as I did. I am half way through the lastest book. At the rate you are going, you are probably going to finish the series before me! And I still recommend the Nalini Singh series. Lots of emotion even if the psy are emotionless. Yummy heros.

Margie :)

Janet, Your correct in that

Janet, Your correct in that LL's Breed series is written for Elora's Cave. The Breed ones of LL's i've read so far have been very well written stories imho, though all but one did have a fair bit of sex in them. You mention wanting emotion with your sex, there is that in spades in these. I wouldn't be able to read these if they were cold and all about the sex act. ick poo.

And when these couple's fall in love, they fall head over heals(mate's for life) for each other, it's awesome.

My first read by her was recommended as the one with the least amount of sex of all her books, "Elizabeth's Wolf." This story was sooo good, i ordered several more to this Breed series, regardless of the amount of sex in them(which i always skim if it goes on to long in books anyways).

I think you'd be more than safe to try "Elizabeth's Wolf" first as well, and then decide if you want to continue with more of this series after that. I don't think you'll be able to resist. lol

As to other Elora's Cave novels, by other authors. I have no interest to read anyone else. I would be wary of getting the same reads you've mentioned not liking.  Now if someone were to recommend a new EC author to me, someone with similar reading tastes as i have, then i'd for sure try one.

Kathy D

Hi Janet,

Thanks for posting this thread -- I'm jotting down a number of selections for my next Barnes and Noble trek!

For paranormals, I would also highly recommend Vivi Anna's Nocturnes (she has a couple out already and one coming this fall), as well as anything by Maggie Shayne, Heather Graham Pozzezere (sp?), and Kresley Cole.

August's MEMBER OF THE MONTH

"It's perfectly normal to love both Jane Austen and Edgar Allan Poe..." -- (Me!)

Hi Janet!

You've sure created a massive conversation here!

One author I don't think was mentioned is Emma Holly.  Now that's hot!  Her Demon series is good.

If you want to "test" drive a few of these authors try the antholoy "Hot Spell".  You'll see Emma Holly, Lora Leigh (Breed story but not related to the others) Shiloh Walker and Meljean Brook.  I enjoyed them all

Good luck!.

Margie, Celtic Lass, Elle

Margie, Celtic Lass, Elle Jay...  I'll keep those in mind.  :)

Margie...  I'm powering my way through Book Three... think I'm 75% done.

Kathleen...  I don't think I've really looked hard enough at the Elora's Cave books to judge them one way or another, so I should keep an open mind on 'em.  I'm certainly not trying to avoid sex, I'm all for the steam, the Harlequin lines without steam don't really interest me.  The EC stuff I've read...  I skimmed one full book and I read a few short stories.  The short stories were casual sex with no permanent relationship.  The full length one was a little too athletic for me.  I'll keep looking at books individually.  And definately I'll keep an eye out for titles/authors people here are recommending.

I have several suggestions.

I see you've already got several recommendations to read J. R. Ward's books, and I'm going to add mine as well.  I'm completely addicted to this series!

Also, I'm not really into Sherrilyn Kenyon's books, but a LOT of people are, so I'm going to recommend them to you to try.

Jude Deveraux has done a few Paranormal romances, but her best are The Summerhouse, Wishes, Remembrance (a time-travel) and Forever.

Mary Janice Davidson has a vampire series out and all of the titles start with "Undead and . . . "  The first is Undead and Unwed.  I'm not particularly into this series, as they're funny but not particularly dramatic enough for me, but again, these seem to be well-loved by the masses, so I'm going to recommend that you give them a try.  Best of luck!

Loving J. R. Ward, S. E. Phillips, Jude Deveraux, Dan Brown, and Gregory Maguire currently.

Hi Janet

I loved the story of Z and Bella. I adored the end. I was very happy when I read the end even with other things that go on in that book.

Margie :)

I am at the point you're

I am at the point you're referring to... the "other things" and I'm (edit)  that happened! CRAP!

Hi Janet

Ya, I hated the "other things". That was so hard to take.

But even with stuff like that, I am addicted to finding out what is happening with these characters. Lucky you, getting to read them all in a row with no wait.

Margie :)

I'm going to be so p***ed

I'm going to be so p****ed when I get to the end of book seven and have to wait six months for the next book. To go through the first seven in a matter of maybe two weeks, and then have that kind of wait? ouch. But that's how it is when you have to wait for the book to get from author's head to our hands.

Yay, another reader caves,

Love it when i see another reader get so hooked on the BDB series! Cool

You'll be disappointed to know there are 6 books out so far...so now you'll be thru them even faster.Innocent

Kathy D

And there goes Book Four, I

And there goes Book Four, I just finished it.

(wow, was anyone else actually hoping Butch and Vishous would have a little hookup?  The chemistry and connection there was insanely intense.  I felt a bit more connected to Butch/Vishous than Butch/Marissa.)

Oooooohh!!!  Starting in on

Oooooohh!!!  Starting in on Book Five.  I just read part of the opening scene, where the 13 year old heroine (Jane) asks a Ouija board who she'll marry and gets Vishous as her answer.  That just gave me the chills.  Yum.  *lets loose a bit of a squeal*

Ok, what next? I've

Ok, what next?

I've read books 1-5 of the BDB by JR Ward.  Book 6 I'll be reading soonish.  (I just bought it today, but I am going to read a few more books before I get to it)

So I'm eyeing up the other paranormal authors to see who I should run through next.  Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series is looking tempting, so is Christine Feehan's Dark series.  Anyone want to weigh in and push me towards a series?

I like Kenyon...

but am not really a fan of Feehan; to me, her books are more like Amanda Ashley's.  She's got a lot of fans, though, so it may just be me!

Hmmmm.  I'm dithering.

Hmmmm.  I'm dithering.  Undecided.  I was kind of leaning towards Feehan because I had heard those books were definately vampires and about happily ever ETERNALLY after endings.  The AA comparison though makes me back off though, I found AA tepid in a way.

The first book I skimmed through of Kenyon's is Fantasy Lover and since I haven't read the author before, the hero isn't a vamp, I don't know what kind of paranormal universe to expect, and I don't know if I can expect a HEA, eternal or otherwise.  Hmmm.  So far the first few pages made me laugh out loud literally, funny and cute.  (and sexy soon? mmm)

Hi Janet

I don't believe that I've ever read Kenyon or Ashley. I read many of the books in the Carpathian series by Feehan. It has been a long time now and I have lost track of them after reading about 8 or 9. But I remember loving them at the time.

Again, I like Nalini Singh's Psy/changeling series. Not vampires but they are mated for life. I love those. I'm also liking the Lara Adrian Breed series. Just don't compare it to Ward and it is enjoyable. They are vampires. The UnDead books are more chick lit, is that the term? Anyway, I don't usually read those but I love the UnDead books. Especially book one as it had me laughing so much.

Margie :)

NS and LA sound

NS and LA sound interesting.  I want to hear a bit more about them before I jump in.

The undead series that you compare to chick lit...  I've enjoyed chick lit stories, but I like the romance genre more (obviously given my very predictable reading habits).

So it's a thumbs down on Feehan at the moment from what you guys are saying....  and maybe I'll jump into Kenyon's Dark Hunter series...  I think the Kenyon series is starting to seem more and more like the next series I'll want to read rabidly.

I like Feehan

I like Feehan, Kenyon, but I like Keri Arthur more. Susan Sizemore has a vampire series that's good and Lynsay Sands does too with humour. Singh, Ayssa Day's Atlantis series is great but would only hold you for a couple of days as you read so fast. Feehan and Kenyon have a lot for you to go through. I'll be curious to see who you go with next.

Hey Deb...

Hey Deb...  interesting....  you mention some people I don't know much about.  Haven't got my appetite whetted and primed for these authors you mentioned YET:

Keri Arthur more. Susan Sizemore has a vampire series that's good and Lynsay Sands does too with humour.

Wanna tell me a bit more about them?  How's the steaminess?  Humour is something I love, but only if it comes along with a good alpha (since I love alphas in paranormal romances!)  What are the males like?  Is there blood lust?  Destined mates?  *cheeky grin*

I tried one by Keri Arthur.

I tried one by Keri Arthur. I know that it was with a dark blue cover. It didn't work for me as I didn't like that the h was with multiple partners. So, for me it didn't feel like a romance but a lot of people seem to enjoy her books. In the UnDead books, Betsy does have a romance so it was not totally like Sex in the City or something like that.

Heh...  what do you mean

Heh...  what do you mean by multiple partners?  Threesome?  One lover near the start of the book, and another one later on?

Other lovers are fine...  but my preference is this: I don't like other lovers to be taken by either the H/h anywhere from page 1 to the end.  Other lovers during the time that the H/h know each other feels wrong to me.  It makes the sex between the H/h less special when they can get it from other people and easily substitute sex for love making.

Hi Janet

I kind of thought I would mention the multiple lovers because I thought that might not appeal to you. I remember that, in the beginning, she was with dancing with two or three guys and sex with all was not a problem for her. Skimming the book, I don't think there is a main hero but I could be wrong.

No main hero?  *is

No main hero?  *is slightly appalled*  *GRIN*  Yeah...  if there's no main hero, then it's not a romance novel.  So I'll pass.

FYI: I read LEn into the morning hours...  really liked it.  So much happened.  I'll post my review eventually.  I'm a little behind in reviews, got about 7-12 to write up still.
