Lora Leigh ~ FELINE BREEDS 3: KISS OF HEAT

Well, I’m finally all caught up on Lora Leigh’s Feline Breeds series ~ until Dawn’s Awakening is released right away.  Not sure yet if I’m going to rush out and get it as I’ve already got all her to-date-releases of her Wolf Breeds and the one Coyote Breed stories… as well as a few hundred other books.  So far this month my TBR challenge is kind of, uh… slowing down.  Guess I’m going to have to do better!

RATING:

Excellent ~ 4.5 stars

Heat Wave {or as Ellora’s Cave rates this story:  E-rotic.  Love scenes are explicit, leave nothing to the imagination, and are high in volume per the overall word count.}

BOOK READ:

Lora Leigh; Feline Breed 3:  Kiss of Heat; Ellora’s Cave; TPB Nov 2005

SYNOPSIS:

Sherra Callaghan is one of the Breeds that escaped from the labs with Callan and the other feline breeds that became his Pride.  Eleven years before she had been mated with a human male, became pregnant and lost the baby only to be told by her handlers at the lab that the man she had fallen in love with had betrayed her.  She’s spent the past decade and more hating ~ it was the only thing that allowed her to survive.

Kane Tyler; soldier, warrior and avenger.  Eleven years after not only falling in love with the female breed with whom he mated, but then tragically lost, he has spent the years since her death seeking revenge on the Genetics Council.  But when he finds that he had been lied to and that Sherra lives, he’s torn.  He’s learned of the horrors that faced her in the years since he’d last seen her, learned of the death of the child that they had created, learned that she hated him.

Now, working together with the rest of the Pride to protect the Feline Breeds, Kane and Sherra are inundated with the emotions and lust of the mating heat.  They also have to overcome the anger and scars left in the wake of the lies and deceits they were subjected to.

MY NOTES:

I’ve really read this series all over the place, but it’s so nice to finally have all the puzzle pieces laid out in front of me.  All I can say is “Wow… what a series!”   Each story is filled with so much emotion that it grips your heart and you become so fully involved.   Yes, the stories are extremely sexual and erotic but they are, first and foremost, stories of love and salvation.  The connection between Sherra and Kane is undeniable and almost overwhelming; the torment that each has suffered over the past decade is such a strong element that you can only wonder at their survival.  Once again, Lora Leigh has captured the very hearts of the two and only by opening themselves completely are they able to begin to do more than exist… they can start to live.

I remember

I remember this one and really liked Kane's character. I liked Sherra and the way she hid her pain. I'm really addicted to the Breeds. I picked up Dawn's Awakening yesterday and will be reading it soon, I hope.

Dawn's Awakening

Hey Deb,
I'm fairly anxious to get Dawn's story.  I know that her turn doesn't come until after Tanner's story, but her relationship with Seth is so immediate at the end of this story that I'm really looking forward to getting to it soon.  Poor Dawn, she's suffered sooo much!

And one thing that I noticed in this story is Cassie, a wolf breed, and Elizabeth's daughter.  Obviously I'm going to have to get to the Wolf Breed stories ASAP as well.
And Breed addiction ~ yep, I've got that one too!  Actually, so far it's been a Lora Leigh addiction.  Laughing

Lora Leigh

is an autobuy.  You make me wish I had this one already. Kane & Sherra a mentioned in one of the new books. I got the Breed books I ordered from her husbands site www.dreamsbynight.com and have not sorted thru them yet.  I way overdid January buys....  I will be getting Dawn's awakening as soon as I find it.  It was not at Borders's the other day in the new Releases.  I will find it.

I only read 11 books in Jan... already behind....

Jeannie

Yes I am a readalholic and I don't want the 12 step program!!!

I love the Breed series

I've started Tanner's Scheme and haven't bought Dawn's Awakening yet.  Saw it in the store but am waiting to buy it where I get a discount.  (We Canadians pay about $2 to $3 more for the same book, even though our dollar is close to par with the US - we need every little discount that we can find!)

In TS it seemed so strange to see that Callan & Merinus' first born in 12 years old!

LL's Breed series...

...really is an incredible creation Jeannie, and I'm constantly amazed at how individual all her characters are.  Even though she has seven, now with Dawn's Awakening, Feline Breeds books they are all different, both in the characters and their stories.  The pain that they go through is something that is, to me anyway, almost tangible.

ElleJay, for awhile Zellers was selling their PB's at US prices plus their usual 25% discount.  I haven't been there for awhile, so I'm not sure if the prices have changed... but it really does tick me off that there is such a price disparity between the US and the Canadian prices ~ I mean really!
