To Love and To Cherish by Jennie Adams (Harlequin Romance March 2008)

Wonderful emotional best friends romance read!

While caring for the Campbell goats, Tiffany Campbell only wants things to run smoothly while she is in charge. Her pet goat Amalthea has other plans. Amalthea's antics are not the only thing disrupting Tiffany's plans. Back in town, her best friend Jack Reid stands right before her. Jack broke Tiffany's heart when he left but Jack only wanted to protect her by sparing her the news of his illness, by protecting her from his family's history. Can TIffany rediscover her friendship with Jack or are some secrets just too deep to share? With the kind of chemistry between Jack and Tiffany brewing behind the scenes, can friendship lead to love or must they choose between friendship and love?

To Love and to Cherish is a powerful emotional romance read. Several surprising twists add to Jack's character and to the best friends theme. Jack and Tiffany's struggle to maintain their friendship was quite well-written, adding both emotion and depth to the idea of friendship. I particularly loved the way this author brought the theme of choice into both friendship and romance. The goat Amalthea provides comic relief and a unique sense of depth in Tiffany's characterization. One or two goat scenes pulled at my heart too. Tiffany's bold move before Jack is just perfect! To Love and To Cherish has a beautiful ending...somewhat uncommon from many of my romance reads, but one I particualry enjoyed. When I reached the last page, I confess, I let out an audible "Yes! Thank you!" and even put my hand in the air in a cheer for the author. I don't have the long history of romance reading as many bloggers here but I would definitely include this romance in my top choices of best friends romances based on the ending plus one or two insights the author gives into the nature of friendship and love.

On a personal note, I would have to say best friends romances are very nice indeed. Smile Several parts of this book crystallized into words several ideas I have had over the years.

Tammy, in my opinion, this

Tammy, in my opinion, this was a great best friends romance.  I won't reveal any spoilers, but is it ever tempting.  Jennie Adams really captures one of the main aspects that makes a best friends romance both so difficult and yet so special.  I loved the several twists concerning the hero, his history and the present day.

Next book?

Waves to Claire Smile.

Merri, thanks for asking. The next book will be out in August. It's the third of my Gable Sister books following on from 'Her Millionaire Boss' (Chrissy Gable) and 'The Italian Single Dad' (Bella Gable). This one is Sophia's story, and titled 'The Boss's Unconventional Assistant'. Soph lives up to the 'unconventional' part. I had fun discovering her quirks and there is a pet, though not a goat this time. . . . There's an excerpt on my website  if you'd like to see how the story starts.
