Matthias Barton was a focused successful businessman. His PA of five years starts the book by tendering her resignation. Again. When it finally occurs to him that this time Kendall was not going to back down again, he fires her. Ten minutes to vacate her office and the building. Never mind she organised his life and replaced and programmed all the gadgets that regularly ended up in the pool below his window. He would replace her as easily and get along fine. Hell, yes. He was off to spend a month at his late friend's lodge at Tahoe to fulfill the requirements for a bequest of a will. Plenty of time to mould the new PA there.
Kendall has accepted a job promoting her to a position of Vice President with a rival company. Finally she was moving up in the world of business. Working for Mr Barton had given her valuable experience that would enable her to eat the Corporate sharks (with sauce). By coincidence her induction was to be at Tahoe. Matthias had made predictions about the motive for her employment by his rival, and on arrival things were not as she expected for training for the corporation. A suite in a honeymoon lodge, dinner meeting, questions about her last company...
Matthias finds replacing Kendall more difficult than expected. The applicants just did not meet the standards. (Well they weren't Kendall first, second and third). So Matthias manages alone though he keeps meeting up with Kendall....
I had really anticipated reading this book. It surpassed my expectations. The blurb and the cover appealed to me (The appearance of someone concentrating on a strategy to win I suppose- never mind the cover photo didn't match the Hero's haircolour description and would probably be closer to the rivals- but that is by the by). This was a man that played to win. Concentration. Focus. Intensity
The beginning pages set the tone and there were some delightful LOL episodes.
Well worth reading.
