Today is May Day. Run around the Maypole! Did you ever do that as a child? I did. Loved it. The kids don't do that anymore, I don't think. And when I was young, I'd make a flower hanger out of paper and pick dandelions and put them in the hanging paper thing and put it on a doorknob - usually a neighbor's and then also my own front door. I wonder what my kids will do in school today? Will the teachers recognize the day as special at all?
On my desk blotter calendar at work, today is mentioned as Holocaust Remembrance Day. On my Page-A-Day calendar, it is May Day. I'd rather celebrate May Day, but that doesn't mean that I don't find the Holocaust something unimportant. That was a major event in history. Something that won't be forgotten and shouldn't.
On this day, may you celebrate whatever you wish!
