McKettrick's Heart by Linda Lael Miller

After divorcing his unfaithful wife, Keegan concludes that love is a powerful thing, painful to lose and dangerous to pursue with casual abandon.  His hard feelings seem only reaffirmed when he meets career woman Molly Shields, the head of a successful literary agency.  Molly has come to claim the responsibility of raising the child she gave up to Keegan's friend who now faces terminal cancer.  At first Keegan is suspicious of Molly's intentions, but he also finds her increasingly alluring.  Soon their smoldering mutual attraction promises to explode in an inferno of sheer ecstasy.

For some reason I have read the entire McKettrick series out of order, but  have found each one of them  enjoyable.  The author writes so that they are a series, but also stand alone titles.  I love family sagas, and whew are the McKettricks not a Saga!!!
