I think this may be my favorite book yet by Amy Andrews!
SYNOPSIS: Holly hasn't fully gotten over Sergeant Richard Hollingsworth two years after he ended their relationship. Now, in Abeil as part of a relief effort after a typhoon, Holly finds herself face to face with him again. Richard is much harder than ever before, determined to remain alone. Soon, however, Richard and Holly will be thrown together in a life or death situation that could change them both forever... if they survive.
MY THOUGHTS: MISSION: MOUNTAIN RESCUE is powerful on so many levels. First and foremost, it is an incredible story of the power of love and how it can conquer anything. But Amy Andrews goes far deeper than this story in which love conquers all. This is also a story about conquering fears and about seeing people as individuals rather than as a group, particularly in the midst of war or rebellion.
Amy Andrews does such a beautiful job with character development. Richard initially seems so cold and hard that I wondered how I'd ever warm up to him. But as the story unfolds, Richard's character begins to blossom as the pain he's kept inside begins to show. Holly also begins to develop as a character as she has to deal with such a traumatic experience, one that forces her to look beyond her own fears so as to cope. What a heart she has!
The most touching part of the story, however, is the aspect about the rebels. I don't want to give any spoilers away but just will say I'm thoroughly impressed with the impartiality that Amy Andrews displays as she shows the various sides of the issue, from characters such as John to ones like Kia. And who could resist shedding a tear over Tundol's story?
All in all, this is just a phenomenal story. I want to reiterate again what a shame it is that these books aren't more accessible as this series is simply incredible. And a huge thank you to Amy Andrews, both for writing such a great story and for getting a copy of this book to me!

Sounds like a good one....
I'll have to check this one out! The genres/sub-genres of the books on my reading list are always rotating. I'm an all-you-can-read-buffet kind of person!
Thanks
Oh Debbie - I'm so pleased you liked it. MMR seems like such a long time ago now. It was my 4th book ( now on book 16!!)
It was my first one I'd set in a situation like that. I can tell you now that the original plan was for the island to have been ravaged by a Tsunami - I'd plotted it and sent off the synopsis to my ed in early December. And then the Boxing Day Tsunami happened and they told me I couldn't do the Tsunami plot
So a King Typhoon it was
I think I'm still a little in love with Richard.

I can..
see how a tsunami would easily have fit in with the storyline. Wow, I still have so many of your books to track down, too! This one is easily my favorite at this point, though. Richard is just so lovable and I have to admit a special place is in my heart for Holly for overcoming the bug thing (ie, the leech scene *shudders*).

Great blog, Deb! THis
Great blog, Deb!
THis sounds really good. Is it part of a series or a stand alone?
Somewhere Harlequin asked what they would like to see for Harlequin's 60th anniversary. What I would like to see is some of these older Medicals reissued, maybe series in a single book, or maybe some of the great standalones bound together in one book.
I just can't get enough of them.

Debbie, how can you do this to me knowing I can't get my hands on this book. Military and medical together and lots of action. Darn, it sounds great!
