My Dog Punched Me ... and other stuff

Talk about a rude awakening. Billie, who doesn't see as well as she used to, decided to join me in bed this morning. Hampered by arthritis, she's a little shaky now when she leaps onto the mattress. Her paw and nails plowed down on my left eye. "Ouch!"

I now have a red scratch under my eye. I'm just hoping it doesn't turn black and blue. I can hear it now.

"What happened to your eye?"

"My dog punched me."

"Uh-huh."

In other news, since uploading my radio interview on my website and blog, I've been contemplating doing some sort of series of podcasts. I googled and found two sites of interest to me. NPR features podcasts on an array of subjects. American Writers showcase podcasts on different aspects of creative writng. I may actually get hooked there. Podiobooks offers free books via podcast. But does anybody listen? I guess readers who are attracted to audio books (and judging from their popularity at our library, there are a lot) might be interested in listening to some sort of podcast. But is it worth the effort on my part. I'd have to purchase the right equipment, learn how to use it and write, record and upload the podcast. That means investing time I don't have. Hmm. Me thinks this may be another one of my bright ideas that falls by the wayside.

P.S. Yesterday I heard from a few readers who've already read The Fall of Rome. I hope they know how much I apprecaite their kind words and enthusiasm. It helps to keep me chugging on!

WRITING: Researched anthropology and added another page to the synop for a new book.

RECREATION: Watched the 1941 classic, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, starring Carol Lombard and William Powell. Clever writing. Stellar acting. Hilarious! And--shocker--this screwball comedy was directed by Alfred Hitchock!

EXERCISE: I'm going to get back on track this weekend. I swear!

DIET: Four weeks into Weight Watchers. Today I weighed in and... I lost two more pounds! That brings my total TEN POUNDS! I can't believe it. Ten down. Ten to go. I can do this!
MOOD: Positive

Thanks, Jayne!

I still can't believe I've lost 10 pounds and in just a month. AND I'm not starving myself. :) Actually, there are other Weight Watcher enthusiasts here at eHarlequin who have acccomplished even more than me. They've been quite supportive and inspiring.

I hear you on the exercise angle. If only I could be as faithful to that as to the eating plan!

Sending inspiration your way.... Laughing

Sorry to hear about the

Sorry to hear about the 'punch' in the eye from your dog.

But big yay on the 10 lb weight loss!

Nancy

Beth....

You could do like my twenty-one year old brother back when he had a big colossal zit on the end of his nose on the day he had to attend a funeral.  He came to my house in a panic.  Poor Rudolph... er, um, I mean Brandon.  Anyway, I took him by the hand (I'm the older sister, after all - and that's what I'm for, to rescue) and doctored him up with some concealer and foundation.  Worked miracles.  Of course, after it wore off... well, the zit was still there, but it got him through the funeral and he was happy.  Big sister to the rescue again.  And he didn't care if he was actually wearing 'girl's' makeup. Gave me some leverage over him, later. <EG>  Anyway, this would probably help you conceal your scratch too.  Also Neosporin will have it gone in a matter of days.  I love that stuff.  Around my house we use it a lot! LOL

BTW, your dog looks really precious.  What a sweetheart.

I'm sooooo glad you've reached a 10 lb. loss!  That's wonderful!  I knew you could do it!  Wink

Nancy...

Thanks for the 'aww' and the 'yay'. Smile  The eye thing isn't really that big of deal, although my husband keeps teasing me saying Billie's just looking for her chance to get the other eye. Heh.

As to the weight loss, I can't believe what a difference ten pounds has made for my energy level and self-image. Amazing.

Amanda...

Priceless story about your brother. Ha! Why is it we get zits at the most inopportune time? I swear I never break out anymore, but every flippin' time I'm headed toward a writer/reader conference, a special time when I really want to look good--I get a pimple on my chin. Not just any pimlpe, but a big honkin' ugly pimple. Shouldn't one of the perks of being over-forty be that you don't get pimples anymore?! *le sigh* Anyhow, I'm down with the concealor, Amanda. :)

As to the weight loss, I'm half way to my goal! Only now I'm thinking maybe another five, instead of ten, pounds would do it. I don't want to look like a stick. Just in proportion. :)

Have a great holiday weekend!
