This is the current read for Oprah's book club. Starting on March 3 (next Monday) there will be a 10 week course about working the program in this book.
I have been listening to this book at work, while I read the previous book that I just posted. I just happened to finish it the very same day.

The Book:
With his best selling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now". In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transending our ego-based state of conciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key ending conflict and suffering throuhout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jelousy, and the unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of conciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.
My take:
Most of the book is stuff I already knew, but I learned a little more. And with the class, I will learn even more.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one...
Oprah's show everyday has someone else describing their "Aha" moment. I just never felt even close to having one.
I also thought in the beginning that the book might be above my reading level because I kept having to reread. And I know the beginning contributed to my procrastinating and slow reading. I don't think I read more than 20 pages at a time until I was more than half through the book. I felt the beginning implicated too many "global" issues. As a military brat, that struck the wrong chord with me. But as I got more into the book and the book seemed to be directed toward "self" more, I agreed with more of what it was saying--at least in theory. Putting it into practice might be a little more difficult for me.

i think mostly the one quote sums it up...
Dont try to become a better person. Find the better person inside of you (or how ever it goes).
I have heard some of this before, like in Wayne Dyers "Power of Intention". Some of the principles are the same. you just do the best you can to make sure you are not ruled by ego.
