Hi Everyone!
I really JAZZED about SRS’s NEW book covers for 2010. Lucky me! I just got my March 2010 A cover, HIS WOMAN IN COMMAND and I loved the new look.
I particularly like the ‘story telling’ going on in the lower one third of the front book cover. Patience Smith, the Senior Editor, had sent out information on the changes. She said they were trying for more of a “movie poster” image of the hero and heroine. What I liked the most was their idea to put a ‘location image’ on the bottom third of the cover.
I’ve posted my SRS cover to show you what they’ve done. I also like the “rose” touch on the left hand side. I believe this assures readers that yes, there’s a great love story inside those pages too....not to mention suspense, thrills, adventure and danger.
HIS WOMAN IN COMMAND (March, 2010) is the first of my ongoing Black Jaguar Squadron series. Only this time instead of being deep in the jungles of Peru, this new squadron has spun off from the original. BJS 60 is stationed at a super secret black ops location known as Bravo base camp. The all-woman Apache combat helicopter pilots are out on the front lines battling the enemy. I hope you will enjoy the continuation of this series. Judging from the many emails I get from my readers, you are really looking forward to it.
What better way than to have a new, dynamic cover to send this series into orbit?
I'd love to hear what you think about this wonderful cover.
Warmly, Lindsay McKenna

New Covers
I love the new covers for SRS but I'm not as happy with all their new covers. As you said the SRS covers show romance, excitement, and adventure and they certainly look like movie posters. I had seen some of the covers on Amazon and hadn't even noticed the red rose along the side. That makes a nice touch alsO. I think they are heading in a more modern up-to-date look which is good.
And I will be looking forward to your new books although I have to admit I haven't read any of the previous Black Jaguar series.

I like the look...
...of this cover, though actually am NOT crazy about the rose. Maybe that rose could have been yellow or orange, to coordinate better with the cover artwork colours.
I'd like to see a few more new SRS covers, get a better feel for what they've done. Overall, notwithstanding the rose, I like it!

New cover
I love the new cover. I can't wait to hold one in my hands. Can't beat the feel of a real book in your hands. I have all your original Black Jaguar books and I have re-read them many times. I can't wait for these to come out. They will go on my keeper shelf with the others.

Wow!
That is an awesome cover. I'll take the book and one of the guy that modeled for that please!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE COVER. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE OTHER NEW COVERS ARE GOING TO LOOK LIKE AS WELL.

Fantastic cover -Lindsay
Hi Tammy
thanks for your feedback. I knew nothing of the cover or that it was going to be 'new'--so it was a lovely surprise when I opened the package from Harlequin and saw it. I was VERY pleased. Patience Smith, Sr. Ed. of the line, and my editor, is the one who worked with the Art Department....I had nothing to do with it--barely :-). Glad you like it!

New Covers
Hi Ellen Too
I'm sure the editors will read your comments. They always value what readers do and do not like. They try to get it 'right' for you. And that's a tall order. Different people like different things :-). That said, the "fuschia" rose on the left hand corner of the book cover seems to have been very popular over in France, so they may be trying it here on all of us :-). I personally like it....it's a not so subtle hint that yes, there IS a romance between those book covers! :-))
If you like HIS WOMAN IN COMMAND, you might want to look at my previous/earlier series on the original BLACK JAGUAR SQUADRON. I've enjoyed evolving the original gals who were a part of the Peru Black Ops and have created a second squadron in Afghanistan. Love to see my characters and secondary characters grow and have their own stories. :-)) I hope you get hooked on them like I am :-))

I Like The Look
Hi Kim
That's a great spin-off idea (I think....) about different colors of roses depending upon the background of the cover. Of course, Art Department does not want to hear from me. But the good news is, reader comments and likes/dislikes ARE paid attention too in great detail. So, who knows? The Art Dept folks may think you're a genius! :-) (I think you are--great idea)!

NEW COVER
Hi Linda
Uh oh....you're hooked on BJS! haha. Well, join the crowd. I love writing about these intrepid women :-))
And that's the highest tribute an author can hear from a reader: her books are going onto the "keeper shelf"
Thank you...you made my day :-)

Nice cover!
I always like an almost-kiss on a cover! And I agree about the action displayed at the bottom, too, giving a nice feel for what the story's about (as well as the title). Like some of the others, I hadn't even noticed the rose. Perhaps I would on a full-sized picture, but even after you pointed it out, I had trouble finding it. Hmmm. I'll have to wait until I get some of them to see whether I would notice it in a full-sized cover or not.
