Night Mischief by Nina Bruhns
Silhouette Nocturne # 25 ~ October 2007
Dark Enchantments Book # 3 of 4
.
.
Lady Dawn Maybridge has played second fiddle to her twin sister Aurora all her life and she’s tired of never measuring up in her father’s eyes. So when a devilishly handsome demon approaches her with a bargain that will win her the Demon Stone, a diamond that her father has been searching for all his life, Dawn is sorely tempted to accept. Galin McManus is a vengence demon masquerading as an incubus, a lust demon. He uses their sexual chemistry against Dawn’s formidable defenses, and barters the Demon Stone for five nights in his bed. Dawn is reluctant but she can’t help her overpowering desire for Galin, and when their nights of passion begin she’s afraid of losing more than just her soul to the demon, she’s afraid she’ll lose her heart. Gavin too becomes confused by the bond that continues to grow stronger between them. Can it be possible that he is coming to have feelings for her? But what will happen when Dawn discovers his true purpose, that he’s been summoned to enact vengence; vengence on those that have crossed her, which include her sister Aurora.
Wow! I was wondering how Ms. Bruhns was going to make a hero out of demon. While Galin comes on the scene as holding mistaken beliefs, once he learns from Dawn the true nature of humans, he regrets his past. As in all great romances, the heroine teaches the hero that he is indeed a hero and very much capable of feeling intense love. Galin makes a wonderful hero; his protective instincts and desire to ease her pain make him more human than he’d ever thought possible. Dawn is strong but she has to overcome her vulnerabilities when it comes to pleasing her father and sister. Their approval means a lot to Dawn, even though she behaves as if it doesn’t. I loved this story. Not only for the intrigue introduced about the dark realm, but for the growth both Galin and Dawn experience as their bond grows stronger. March Mini-Challenge ~~ “New-to-Me” ~ #13
-
Nina Bruhns – I have several of Ms. Bruhns SIM’s in my TBR but haven’t had the push to reach for them. I must say that her contribution to this mini-series is outstanding. I love her sense of humour and the multi-layers she gives to her characters. I can certainly see why Ms. Bruhns is praised, as she is indeed a talented author. I look forward to reading more of her books.

Great review!
Great review! So thanks I'll be reading this one sooner because of it. I was going to read some others before getting back to this series. I'll be reading it next after reading your review. Glad it's so good. I need a good one after reading an Athena Force book that was a bit disappointing.

This will be one I'll have to search for. I didn't even have to read the whole review. You loved it and the h has a sis named Aurora - which is my oldest name. I do have a thing w/buying books that have certain names. So, here I am writing it on my "to buy" list . . .

Nocturnes...
Hey Katherine!
I am so glad you are enjoying these Nocturnes! My favorite of the first three in the Dark Enchantment series is probably the second one, by Cynthia Cooke. I just loved the scare factor in the beginning. Glad I didn't live it, but enjoyed reading about it. I did, however, enjoy all three that I read. Like Merri, I still have the fourth to read. I look forward to it, and do hope that they add more to this world, as the authors have done a terrific job!
Do you think you will be trying out more Nocturnes after this, and on that note, perhaps more paranormals?

I absolutely loved all the books in this series and can only hope that there will be more books someday.
I have bought all the Nocturne books that have come out so far. The Nocturne line is the best.
I've been waiting for this
I've been waiting for this one to arrive. I like to read series as one read since I'm horribly impatient about waiting for the next one.
Silly me, I thought I'd ordered it with the others, but if I did, then I've misplaced it in the black hole that is myTBR pile so I had to re-order it.
No doubt as soon as I finish it I'll find the first copy.
