Novella Anyone?

My very first novella, KISS ME ON CHRISTMAS, is out this month in a three-in-one titled BLACKOUT AT CHRISTMAS. It was so much fun collaborating with two awesome writers, Beth Cornelison (STRANDED WITH THE BRIDESMAID) and Sharron McClellan (SANTA UNDER COVER).

Writing this novella held special meaning not only because it is my first, but also the timing in my life. Read my dedication and mmmmaybe you’ll understand.

Oh, and Mr. Inadequate?  Ehem....

The first chapter of KISS ME ON CHRISTMAS is my favorite because it embellishes what I experienced as a single woman. My perception of it all. Men. What was important to me. What I needed from/in a guy. Sometimes I lost track of that and overlooked the fact that the dude just plain wasn’t going to work. Sometimes it took him leaving me before my eyes opened to the glaring truth. While those episodes weren’t a whole lot of fun and pained my ego, after these Mr. Wrongs were out of my life I could see what a good thing it was that they did leave. But enduring several Mr. Wrongs did have its downside. My sentiments for the opposite sex dwindled to cracked mud instead of the rushing river of enchantment and optimism I had when I began my search. So, when the right one did come along, I didn’t see it at first. Good thing he has better eyes than me!

Funny how these parallels make their way into fiction :o)

Personal experience can sure add a wallop of fun to writing, and KISS ME ON CHRISTMAS was full of that. My heroine doesn’t see what a great guy my hero is until later. And he’s afflicted with a similar handicap.

That’s my break room banality for the day. You have any to share?

Already purchased and read it!

I finished reading the anthology on the weekend, quite enjoyed it. I could relate to Shanna's distrust and found the on-line dating experiences quite entertaining -- and all too true!

Kea in the Break Room

Thanks Kea! I'm glad you liked the stories! And can relate -- Shanna was a good conduit ;o)
