One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich

I started reading the Stephanie Plum novels a few years ago at book seven. I never really felt the need to go back and see what I'd missed, but when I saw One for the Money in a bookstore recently, I bought it on impulse.

Really interesting to see the start of the Plum / Morelli / Ranger triangle. Ranger "felt" different from how he feels in the later stories, but maybe it's too soon to say. This book had a great premise, with Stephanie hunting Morelli in her first gig as a bounty hunter, at the same time as being forced to rely on him for protection from a scarily sleazy bad guy. Huge fun! Guess I'll have to go buy Two for the Dough...
