This is the second story of the Taggart series.
St. Louis R.N Shannon Johnson despartely needs a break from both her hectic job and an unsatisfying long-term love affair. The parcel of Texas land she recently inherited is just the refuge she craves. Until fellow landowner Matt Taggart challenges her to prove she has what it takes to work the sprawling ranch. Shannon's pride rises like a flame to meet his dare--so does her attraction to the arrogrant and utterly irresistable rancher.
An unhappy marriage has taught Matt that a beautiful woman can't be trusted. But when it comes to romance, Shannon breaks all the rules--and even invents a few of her own. And soon, as two wary hearts are set aflame beneath the blazing western sun, neither Matt nor Shannon will be able to escape the searing heat of desire--or even want to
This was a great book. It was the perfect second book for this series. It shows the contrast between the two brothers and how they handle heartbreak. I like strong-willed women who are not afraid to stand up to the men they love, Shannon is just like that.
This story is part of a three book collector's series call the Falcon Saga.
