Fletcher Hardy, cattleman from North Queensland, met Ally Fraser, rising fashion designer, in Melbourne during his brief visit there.
It was an intensely passionate interlude. Then Fletcher returned alone to his
life on his property. Early childhood experience convinced him that a city girl
could not be happy in the outback and would eventually leave.
Ally having regularly visited a station during her education
was convinced she would fit in. When Fletcher’s godson, now in his
guardianship, needed a nanny she convinced her friend and Fletcher’s cousin to
give her the position.
Fletcher was not pleased to see her. He insisted on sending
her back immediately- though circumstances intervened.
This was a good read. There was a particular scene at the
station that was delight (LOL).
