POISON SLEEP is the second book in the Marla Mason urban fantasy series and it completely and utterly rocked.
After defeating the last sorcerer that wanted to kill her, Marla is back in her home town of Felport doing what she needs to be doing as chief sorcerer and protector. But something strange is happening in her city. Strange towers are appearing and disappearing in the middle of downtown and Marla herself has disappeared into a alternate realm. She finds out that a very powerful psychic who can reweave the fabric of reality has escaped Blackwing Institute for the criminally insane and she's reeking havoc on everyone she comes in contact with, including Marla. Marla has to save her city but how?
Again, I was so drawn into this world I could see it, and hear it all around. Pratt has amazing world building skills and I'm jealous as heck at his ability to make me care about everyone in the story including the bad guys.
Fast-paced, and brilliantly weaved, I highly recommend this book as well as the first in the series Blood Engines.
