I sat down to lunch today (after a very productive morning, tyvm
) and started moseying around the eHarlequin site. I've been worrying lately--talking things out with my hubby, writing goals and page counts on two different calendars, emailing my critique parter--about how I'm going to get everything done that I'm supposed to this month.
I ran across Donna Alward's blog post, entitled "Focus" and was relieved to see I'm not the only author dealing with hectic deadlines--I have a proposal due this week, a ms due August 1, and I'm leaving for family vacation on July 28th (ergo, my deadline is really July 28th now). I just got back from a quick weekend trip to see my military brother and his family in Kansas City (he's doing well in Kosovo, btw!
Looking lanky and deeply tanned from so much work in the outdoors--I blogged about him on the Intrigue Authors blog http://www.intrigueauthors.com/blog.asp ), I have to still teach part-time during the summer, plus, I've got all kinds of projects I keep thinking/hoping I'll get done this summer before my son goes to school.
So, inspired by Donna's post (I don't know her personally--I'm just inspired
), I mentally reviewed my priorities--what has to be done first, what can seriously be delayed for a few days--poured myself an icy glass of Pepsi...
and promptly sat down to blog here.
Am I missing the self-discipline gene? This is a nice break for me, but lunch is over and now I'm dawdling. I need to get back on track and have an equally productive afternoon. (Oh, and I'm laughing because my CP and I are going to be giving a workshop at the RT conference in April on time management
--I think I'll approach that presentation as what NOT to do
) Oh, well. I suppose I must have something that works for me since I've got 5 books out this year. I'm producing the pages. But it sure seems like there must be a less stressful way to do it.
Do any of you have some helpful hints about getting my butt in the chair at my computer and keeping it there?
Happy Reading,
Julie
(btw, I'm blogging at the Intrigue Authors on Wednesday, July 16th--I hope you'll join me!)

Wow Julie...
Busy much?
Sheesh... if I were you, I'd probably be in the hospital by now... that or confined to bed with a stack of books to read.
It sounds as though you have your plate more than a little full ~ but I'm supremely certain that you'll be on target when you have to be.
And I'm awaiting the arrival of your latest... I can hardly wait!
Take care of yourself... we your fans, need you happy and healthy... and writing.

Thanks, Kathy! I'm workin' on it...
I'm having lunch with a friend tomorrow--that'll give me a break. And I'm trying to be good about exercising regularly (with my hubby-so that gives me some time with him). In the meantime, I'll keep pluggin' away.
