This is a really tough blog for me, I enjoy this author, but this book didn’t work for me. The premise sounds interesting and intriguing, Belinda is the bastard child of the Queen Lorraine (who strongly resembles the real Queen Elizabeth) and she is trained to serve as a secret weapon of her mother’s – an assassin and spy. Interesting premise, problem is I didn’t like any of the characters, the most likeable was Javier, and truthfully, he is made a bit pitiable. Way too much violence and disregard for people. Sorry Catie, this one just didn’t work for me. re: Queen's Bastard
Oh, I hate when an author I like writes a book that doesn't work for me...sorry that happened for you this time. I'm looking forward to reading this one, so hopefully I'll have a different reaction--we shall see!
LA - I don't read a lot of
LA - I don't read a lot of fantasy, so that could have been the problem. However, Belinda is just a hard person for me to have lead a book as her moral compass isn't what I think it should be. I do like CE's Walker paper books, so I may have just strayed too far out of my comfort zone.
