This is the 2nd book in the Raintree trilogy. I didn't read the first one. I don't think this story lost anything by not reading them in order. It was very good, wanting me to get the 1st and final book in the trilogy.
This is Gideon Raintree's story. He can harness electricity and is 2nd in line to the "royal" seat. He is a homicide detective with the unique ability to talk to ghosts. He has to keep his abilities a secret that makes it difficult to do his job well sometimes. His abilities help him to have an almost perfect solution rate. He gets an unwanted partner at the time when his cousins room-mate is brutally murdered. He is respected by the rest of the station's cops and the department chief, even though he is a bit "eccentric" when he walks around a crime scene talking to himself. His new partner thinks he's too good to be true, and that he just might be a crooked cop. Read this story and find out what really happened at his cousins aparment, how he and his new partner come to an understanding and how together they figure out what's going on.
