Raintree: Haunted by Linda Winstead Jones (Nocturne #17 - June 2007)

This is the second book in the Raintree trilogy. I can't recall any books I have read in the past by LWJ, however, after reading this one, I know it won't be the last. Her writing of this paranormal book was unbelievably natural!

Gideon Raintree, a homicide detective, uses his special gifts to "harness electricity and talk to ghosts" (from the back cover). The Ansara clan (arch rival to the Raintree clan) has set him up to deal with a serial killer. He is assigned a new partner, Hope Malory, and knows he must hide his talents from her. Of course, neither of them plan on falling in love with one another...

This book was excellent! I loved everything about it. The timing of the story as it relates to the previous book in the series is very cool. I loved both characters, appreciated their challenges, and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. The action and adventure is even more intense than that from Inferno, and I can't wait to see where the final story goes.
