Raintree: Inferno

Riantree Inferno is the first title in the Raintree trilogy. It has just been released as part of the M&B Centenary and has been featured in the British press. Anyway, I was intrigued.

It is the story of Dante Raintree, the owner of a Reno casion and the head of a clan of *gifted* indivduals. TheRaintree clan is currently at war with a rival clan of equally gifted individuals, the Anasaras. However, for the last 200 years, the Raintree have dominated. Something the latest set of Anasara are determined to reverse.

The story also revolves around Lorna Clay, a woman who seemingly  is neither Raintree nor Ansara but posesses more powers than she should. Her background is never fully explained, and hopefully fingers crossed, it will be in future books. I wanted to know more why she possessed such great powers, and if she is illegitimate, why wasn't she looked after?

The story revolves around the growing romance between Dante and Lorna as they battle to discover what is happening with the Ansara and why Dante's casino was firebombed. It is replete with danger, action and a growing romance between the two protagonists.

All in all it was an exciting, page turning read, but it is the first book in a tightly woven trilogy and that means there are hanging threads and that there is really no satisfactory resolution. And I really want to know what happens, and if I am right in my guessing.  I am now left with a problem -- do I order the US versions or do I wait and buy the books are they are released in the UK?
