I actually read this as part of the March challenge, however, am only posting it now. The Nocturne series is new to me, and this is the first of its titles that I have read. I remember reading many rave reviews about the Raintree trilogy last year, and thought it would be appropriate to give them a try for the March challenge. This may also be the first book I have read by Linda Howard, although I can't be sure. Even before starting this series, I was aware of the years of planning, preparation, and writing that the three authors had done together, which heightened my intrigue.
Dante Raintree is the king of the Raintree clan. He knows his life has changed forever when Lorna Clay walks into his office. Evil forces lurk that force Dante and Lorna into an immediate adventure, leading to the ultimate battle of the Raintree clan.
The chemistry between Dante and Lorna could be felt right through the pages of the book. It was incredible. Their relationship was playful, sassy, and passionate. I enjoyed the never ending banter, and the way the two worked through their situation together. The book was a fun, fast read, that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also loved the way Howard put forth the mythology governing the series. The story was exciting from the first, and the intensity never faded even on the final page.
