My first goal was to keep up with my blog entries and not get too far behind. I'm not doing too bad. Right now I have 6 books needing to reviews:
10. The Ultimate Bite – Crystal Green Jul 07 (Harlequin Blaze)
11. Bared – Jill Shalvis Apr 04 (Harlequin Blaze)
12. Forbidden – Tori Carrington (Harlequin Blaze) Apr 04
13. Single Mama Drama – Kayla Perrin (Mira Books) Jan 08
14. Upon the Midnight Clear – Sherrilyn Kenyon (St Martins Press) Nov 07
15. Secrets of a Proper Lady – Victoria Alexander (Avon Historical) Oct 07
In the spirit of trying to read some of my older books, I went on a Blaze run and read from my TBR box. Bared and Forbidden came from the bottom and represent great books that gets pushed further and further to the bottom of my stack when I buy and buy books without reading what I have in my stack. Ultimate Bite was a newer book that was on its way to becoming a dust collector.
There is a used bookstore in my area that trades and sells paperback books. I visit ocassionally to see what I can find, but I never trade.. This year I have decided that I will trade books. She sells her book for half the cover price and she trades two for one or a credit for 1/4 of the cover price. This weekend I collected a bag of books and went on a search for some books that were on my TBR/TBB list. I found some of the older books I was looking for and some new ones that I had on my wish list. I came out with Upon a Midnight Clear - Sherrilyn Kenyon, Secrets of a Proper Lady (Book 3 of The Last Man Standing) - Victoria Alexander, Asking for Trouble - Leslie Kelly, Daddy Protector - Jacqueline Diamond, Vows & A Vengeful Groom - Bronwyn Jameson, and On My Own Terms - Shirley Hailstock - all for the price of $4. There is something to this trading books. I can clear up some space on my shelves plus acquire some books that I haven't read.
This weekend I was on a search for Francis Ray's Not Even If You Begged. I didn't find it on Saturday, but I did find Single Mama Drama by Kayla Perrin. A definite must read. Bought it on Saturday morning - finished Saturday night. Next came Upon a Midnight Clear, this one slipped by me. It was not on my must reads for 2007 and all of SK Dark Hunter books and any related book make that list. I must have missed the release date on that one. Then came Secrets of a Proper Lady book 3 in the Who Will be the Last Unmarried Man Standing series. I am currently reading Francis Ray's book. I heard someone spotted it at my local Walmart and I picked up a copy last night.
My last rambling thought concerns connecting books not listed as a series. I read Twin Surprise this month and realized it was a connecting story to Jacqueline Diamond’s The Doctor’s Little Secret. Jacqueline Diamond is a favorite of mine in the American Romance line and I read TDLS when it was released in Feb 07. After reading The Doctor’s Little Secret, I knew I wanted to read more about the other characters but didn’t realize they were coming. It seems I missed Daddy Protector released in May 2007 - another connecting story not promoted as such. I am a series lover and I learned that Harlequin chose not to publishe and advertise these books as a series. I have to wonder why. When one of my authors announces a series and their titles, I generally add them to my must read list with publication dates so I wont miss a book. I can’t understand the reasoning for not promoting a set of connecting stories a series. I’m sure the PTB had their reasons. Just my rambling rant.
And one that note my rambling is over for today.

Star, I can sure relate...
...to wonders of trading books. Whenever I cull my books I end up with a box, at least, of books that I'll not re-read. If they're current enough, it's sooooo nice to be able to leave a store with a bunch of books without having to spend much, if any, money. That works for my DH as well.

UBS
I used to work near the UBS so I would go there after work. I got a new job and I've purchased far fewer books, but I don't trade as often either. I have a ton of books needing to be traded.
I loved that UBS though!
Laughter is an instant vacation- Milton Berle
series
I wish more than anything Harlequin would get the series links working and make all the books of a series available while a series is going. I hate having missing holes in series. Last year Ihad the last 5 in a 6 book series and just decided to not read the series because I did not have the first one. I might have looked for it used but my TBR is so big.

Series
As a series lover, it frustrating to find out about related books after that fact. Especially with the shelf span of Harlequin books.
