Read From Your Backlog Month

I'm declaring June to be the Read from my backlog month. I'm sick to death of tripping over boxes of books.  My goal for the month will be 15 books that are already upstairs in my bedroom.

Anyone want to join me?  You can pick any number that you want and shoot for it.

Sure, Vikki, I'll join in the goal....

I have a TON of TBR books!  I'll shoot for 10, because realistically that's probably all I can read while also writing.  If, by chance, I can beat my own goal, then so much the better! Wink

I will.  I would match you

I will.  I would match you at 15 except looking at my numbers for this month, I'm not sure I'd manage.  So I'll stick with 10. Smile  And if I manage more than that, all the better.

The great gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap [Hah! It most certainly is not!], it consoles, it distracts, it excites. It gives knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is moral illumination. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick

Tee hee...  the majority

Tee hee...  the majority of books I read already are backlog books, and I like it that way.  (there aren't enough new books I want in a month to keep me busy)

But yeah...  I've got my own goal for the challenge!  I'm gonna try to hit the 1000 book mark.

Janet, you go, Girl!

10 versus 1000. Undecided H'm.  I'm not doing something right, am I?  LOL

Jo, we'd better be reading faster, huh?  Laughing

I've been reading

I've been reading a few from my TBR every month but I need to up it so yeah count me in. I'll try for fifteen too. School will be out and I'm hoping I can up all my numbers. I'll still be working a Summer Camp at the rec center but only part-time. Good luck everyone!

Well Amanda... I didn't

Well Amanda... I didn't mean 1000 in a month....  *wink*  Does it make it better that that's my year goal?  I blame it on Sadhbh, she mentioned a goal of 1000 herself, and I looked at my monthly total for that month and thought "you know, if i keep up this rate... I'll be close...."

And yes...  read more!  I want us to hit 100 000 books.  If we can harrass more people into more reading... that's good by me.

I'm in

Actually, I've been in all year. I'm not going to do a firm number but I am going to say more than half of my print reads. I've been tracking it and I'm at 47% "old" books if you count only the print and ebooks; only at 35% if you include my audio books. Which I don't think you should b/c I wouldn't be reading at all in the moments when I'm listening to a book. :)

So, I'm going for over 50% print and ebooks being "old".

Count me in, too!

I've been tracking my TBR reads - and am averaging around 20%.  I need to increase it - I'll commit to 15 too.   I think I've logged over 500 books in my TBR so I think it is time to do some serious reading here.  Of course, the problem is JRW will be released in early June; I just bought Kay Hooper's Blood Dreams (used HC) and Lisa Gardner's latest Hide.  Also a number of auto-buy authors have new releases in June:  Allison Brennan, Karen Robards, Linda Howard, Loretta Chase & Jennifer Armintrout.  I guess I'll be busy!

Lucky you fast readers.

I commend you people who can read much faster than I can.  I may only be able to read 2 books in the month of June.  I am presently on my 11th book since January 1st.  Average reading speed for me is one book every 2 weeks.  Great going fast readers and writters.

Hi Everyone

I can't do even 10 but I do have a few that I keep passing up for the new box of books that come. So, I'll commit to 5 from my tbr for June.

Cindy, I'm not a fast reader either. My year goal is to make the 100 books like last year but more if I can. Every book counts toward the ultimate goal. :)

Margie :)

Yea Guys!!!

I'm glad that I will have company in my quest. I've moved the TBR into my bedroom so that I'm forced to deal with it and apparently it is working because I'm feeling the need to get rid of it.

Though this year i'm not

Though this year i'm not reading anywhere near what i usually read in a year.,i'd like to participate and try to read 50% of the books i read in June, from my tbr, that have been waiting at least a year or longer.

TBR

Right now I'm at 62% books from the TBR pile for the year. Every month I try for 50%.

Vikki- I solved my problem of tripping over books, I bought another book caseLaughing. Now if I can hold off reading the 48 I already bought so far this month for 3 months than they would be in TBR too (but I have 12% to play withSmile)

Well, I'm reading between

Well, I'm reading between 23-27 books per month. 12 books come from my reader subscriptions all the others come from my TBR. So, I can commit to reading 10+ from my TBR in June.

Nancy

Well, I think I have a good

Well, I think I have a good start in my attempt to read 5 from my tbr. I've read two books that I purchased in 2007. The first one was JACKSON'S WOMAN by Maggie Price (05/07) and the other was FORGOTTEN MARRIAGE by Paula Roe (09/07).

Margie :)

Okay, sixth day going into June....

I'm trying to keep faithful to this goal of reading from my TBR pile!  I've got two books already read that I need to review.  I'm slow about posting them.  Yes, I know I'm a bad girl.  Anyway, when I get these reviewed I'll have only eight more left to reach my goal.  Then I can feel smug when I get to the eleventh.  Smile

to read fifteen BOXES of books, and I don't think June will suffice, but maybe between now and December 31st Smile

DH would be happy if I'd just give away the read pile but  I haven't finished with them Surprised Cry

Hugs

Sadhbh
