Well, this is my DD's last week of school! And to start the summer off on a good note, I've promised her a special day for us next Monday at one of those do-it-yourself pottery places where you paint our own pieces. Sounds fun right? And it will be - guaranteed. But I HAVE to get this out of my system, because I feel a panic rising, expanding my chest, and getting ready to explode! HOW THE HECK WILL I FIND THE ENERGY TO KEEP UP WITH HER AND WRITE AT THE SAME TIME THIS SUMMER?! She's at the age where involvement in sports and activities is vitally important. And I'm at the age where concentration is vitally important - LOL!
I know I can't possibly be the only writer-momma out there who will have to readjust her schedule to mold around the summer vacation. I find that it's such a delicate balance of dedication to my writing and spending time with my family as it is. During the school year, I write while she's in school, and the eight hour schedule gives me flexibility. However soon that's about the change and it's time to shift my BICHOK into another routine. It's not something that I can't do, I know that already - after all, I'm a woman, and we women are good at multitasking, right?
But I'd be interested in hearing how other writer-mommas manage their routines in the summer.

I'm not a writer-momma, but
I'm not a writer-momma, but I do work and I do it outside the home. My husband calls himself a professional student as he's in school right now. The kids will be out on June 17 for the summer and I truly don't know what to do with them! I can't see putting them in daycare as the oldest is 11 and can't stand that place.
I'm thinking of possibly revising my work schedule, but I'm a 9-to-5er and not sure if that would be possible. I just hope my hubby has some night classes so he can be home for the kiddos!

Oh, Kristen....
....that must be really tough having your husband in college full-time while you work full-time. A few years ago my husband went back to college part-time while working full-time and our life was always chaotic! Time was never something we had enough of. So, I truly sympathize with you.
I know daycare is soooo expensive, too. And I have to say I feel for your 11 yr. old who is at that awkward age right between being baby-sat and being the baby-sitter. Do you have any family nearby who can help? I know I have my mom, but I sure as heck don't want to ask her to baby-sit all the time - if you know what I mean.
Being a mother is awesome, but (in the words of my own mother), 'it sure ain't no Barbie tea party all the time, that's for sure'! LOL

No tea parties here
Oh for the day of tea parties! My youngest son, age 5, would actually enjoy those. LOL
My parents live in Arizona and I live in Washington state. They do drive up for the summer each year (they don't stay with us) and will be able to take the boys a couple days each week. I found out that hubby's classes for summer quarter are in the evenings (hallelujah!) so he will be available during the day for the kids. I'm sure he'll want to spend time studying instead of chasing after them!
