At the end of the Civil War, Nurse Laurel decides to take the last words uttered by the soldiers that died in her care to their kin. When accosted by bandits, a man named Creede saves her. Creede has been looking for his son. He decides to travel with her and slowly they both help each other through their grief and fall in love.
I enjoyed this story of a strong woman dealing with post traumatic stress syndrome and the man who would not let her dispair. Creede is all male--strong and stubborn and wonderful to her. Very good book.
