The Rich Man's Virgin by Lindsay Armstrong (HP 2658)

She's a rich man's daughter.  The hero started out poor and resents the heroine a little (though later he reveals his dislike is in fact due to her father).  They are attracted to each other, are brought together because they end up locked overnight together.  He fights it.  She chases after what she wants (him).  They have an affair, one that is surprisingly open/honest/unjaded, but then she finds out about his past with her father and that's an obstacle that keeps them apart.  But then he finds out she's pregnant and that changes everything: forget the past with the father, she's having his baby, they can work this out.

The book is written in an odd style of flashbacks.  The relationship between the hero/heroine is hard to pin down, it's almost too unburdened by the issues in their life weighing them down, almost flippant.  I was confused about one thing: were the hero/heroine having sex after she was pregnant?  I found it hard to pin down what kind of relationship they had, they weren't living together, he kept visiting, there was a scene with her pregnant in a bikini with him....  Maybe I was just too used to HPs where the hero uses the heroine's desire for him to manipulate her!  The obstacle that kept them apart wasn't much of an obstacle at all: the hero thought he shouldn't pressure the heroine, who liked to make her own choices.  I thought it was a fresh story, a different angle!

Rating: 4/5 stars, it's unique for a HP, so I'll give it a half star more than I intended.  I enjoyed it.  The best part was the dynamic between the hero/heroine, very fiesty but loving.
