The Rich Stranger by Bronwyn Jameson (SD 1680)

Back Cover:

"One last spin. If you win, you keep all the money.  Enough to pay off your debts."

"And if I lose?"

"You marry me.  You have my baby.  And I pay off your debts."

On the surface, it was a win-win proposition.  Whatever the whim of the roulette wheel, Catriona McConnell would keep her outback home.  So, in a Vegas casino on the dare of the rich stranger she'd rescued mere days before, she gambled.

And lost.

And in the harsh light of morning, after a night of Rafe Carlisle making her his wife, Cat realized she'd wagered badly.  Because she'd upped the ante impossibly: she wanted Rafe's love.

My Review:

Whew, the back cover makes this book sound like it's focused on the gambling plot, it ain't, it's a whim and a one-time gamble, the rest of this book is not Vegas-like at all, it's outback style.  This was a great read, I loved the chemistry between the couple, and I loved how determined the hero was to take Cat as his wife and have a child with her.  He felt tender feelings for her from the start, even though he didn't associate them with love until the end.  The heroine should have thought a little harder before taking that roulette spin, or she should have genuinely believed it was a JOKE, but no, she knew it was serious and did it anyway without hesitating.  I liked that the hero was compromising and giving her the home she wanted, and it seemed believable that the heroine wasn't money-grubbing but was just insecure about fitting in with his high-society world.

Rating: 4/5 stars, a good read, nice chemistry, I was rooting for these two.

Hey Janet!

I really need to get my hands on Bronwyn's back list.  The Princes of the Outback series sounds really great!  Thus far, I have only read two of her books, but really enjoyed them both.

Take Care,

Tammy
