Safety In Numbers by Carla Cassidy

This book is part of the Wild West Bodyguard series by Carla Cassidy.  I think it may be end of the series because the mystery that was only particially resolved in the previous book.  Meredith West is the only girl of six siblings.  She's never felt like a "real woman" because she has only 3 pairs of shoes and wears jeans and flannel shirts all the time.  She had a previous relationship that she felt would become something permanent, but when her assignment was over so was the relationship.  Todd told her that men married more feminine women.  When Chase McCall and his mother come for a vacation to visit Dalton West and to stay at the ranch.  Meredith is immediately attracted and so it seems is Chase.  But Chase has a secret about why he's really in town and though he feels sorry about the dehonesty he has a job he must do and none of the West family can know who he really works for or why he and Kathy are really visiting.  As well as not really trusting Chase, Meredith has also had the feeling of someone watching her.  When she starts receiving anonymous "secret admirer" notes and flowers she has her suspicions confirmed.  And how is this all related to her mother's murder 25 years earlier?  Pretty good one.  I enjoyed the 2 books that I read in this series.  There is still one brother left who is not attached or married (Dalton) so maybe another one is in the works.

"It is to the credit of human nature that, except where its selfishness is brought into play, it loves more readily than it hates."
