Mini Challenge – New to me (1):

The author is New to Me.  I chose this book because it’s been in my TBR for a long time and the back blurb sounded interesting.  I loved it.  I read this book in one day!  There were no boring pages.  I always needed to know what was coming next!

 Description & Critique:

SAHM I Am is an internet support group for stay at home Moms.  Every week there is a discussion topic sent to the loop (or group, if you like) and they email back and forth.  From this, A Green Eggs and Ham sub group has formed which contained three members in the beginning but they have welcomed two other members to the group.  Throughout this book, this group of women discuss not only the topic at hand which lets us glimpse into their lives but they also have side discussions about everything currently going on in their lives.  They discuss problems with their children, problems with their spouses and anything that makes them anxious that’s going on in their lives.  These ladies share a real friendship even though they only connect through the internet.

We discover and follow many women’s stories during this book.  There are sibling issues with the loop moderator.  The Green Eggs and Ham sub group experience marital issues as well as all kinds of problems with their children: illness, kids sticking their heads in the cat’s scratching post etc.

The delivery is unique.  This whole book is in email format.  There are no other types of discussions.  We just get to see the emails that are sent back and forth between the list members.  A few others are added to the mix like the troublesome sibling and one lady’s husband, her mother-in-law, her sister-in-law.  So, although it is a story about the ladies in SAHM I Am, the author feels free to bring other characters in via email to add to the story.

The problems encountered by the loop members range from trivial to very serious.  The author mixes them very well.  All are handled through friendship and a touch of Christianity.

I also must admit to a few fits of laughter during this book.  There was an incident with a wedding cake near the end of the book that had me laughing so hard around 3 in the morning (thankfully, I’m on holidays).

One word describes this book:  WOW!  Amazing!  Loved every minute of it!  Loved the format!  I highly recommend this book.  If it is in your TBR, pull it out.

sounds like I need to track this one down

Sound like I need to track this down.

Are you doing a lot of catching up on your holiday?

Catching up...

Only on sleep...

I still haven't read nearly as much as I wanted to.  I have done some writing but not as much as I wanted to.  I'm just too tired.  My massive TBR makes me paralyzed when it comes to choosing the next book.  I still haven't read a word since this book.  I can't decide what to read next :-(

Oh, Kel .....

I hear you on the dilemma of what to read next ..... I've now learnt that when that happens to me, to reach for a Presents ...... so reach for a Presents and be swept away

I think it worked for you last time
