Sadly, I'm going to disappoint a lot of folks with this review, because well, the book's not available anymore. But hunt it down if you can- it's well worth it.
I actually brought the book with me on a trip intending to read it, and then it got lost in the depths of my bag, never to be found again... or at least until the next time I used the bag for a trip. So, during my Easter visit to my mom's, guess what I found?
One enjoyable hour!
Things were not as they seemed...
The minister of Lydia Cantrell's dreams had another calling. As his secretary, she knew the church members adored him. But she was shocked to discover Pastor Malone's past as a Christian secret agent. Her shock turned to disbelief when he revealed he'd made some enemies... and that he and Lydia were in danger.
As the kind, gentle pastor started leading her around corners and through dark alleys, Lydia wondered how she'd get through this. Sure, the stakes were high.. and then there was the fact that she was head over heels in love with her secret agent minister.
Wow... it was a great read. I'd been eagerly waiting for this one ever since Lenora mentioned she was writing this book. The worst part about reading it was getting to the end. The first question that came to mind was, "will there be more secret agent books?" And the answer, according to Lenora's website, is YES!! There's going to be one more December 2008, and a third with no release date. And I'm hoping for more!
I also wanted to share something from Lenora's author letter in the book (you do read those, right?)... she says " When I was about seven, I told my mother I wanted to be a secret agent. She told me that was fine, but I might get shot. That didn't sound very good, so I just pretended to be a spy in my yard and the surrounding country. Thankfully, I changed my mind about being a secret agent when I realized I was born to write books."
I love that! I admit to sharing that same fantasy. And I'm so glad we have authors like Lenora helping us live out that fantasy every day with their fantastic books.
