Anna Marcus had come back to Paradiso to bury her mother, the cook on the De Leon estate and then had to attend the reading of the will of Reynaldo DeLeon's father's will. To her utter surprise, as her mother's sole beneficary, she was given her mother's cottage and an acre of land surrounding it on the the DeLeon estate. Of course Reynaldo DeLeon wants it back; the estate in central Florida has not been broken up in its 400 year history and he will do anything to get it back, including seducing Anna. Will Anna sucumb to his carresses? Will she give her mother's cottage back?
I had some trouble identifying with the characters in this story. And living in Florida myself, I had trouble with the setting of the story. To make love in the sand of an orange grove is to give fire ants and other creepy crawlies a human feast. But I like the premise of the story; what would you do if you thought you were receiving an inheritance? I give the book a B. Jennifer Lewis is a new author to me.
