My first Rogue Angel read. Awesome cool read full of suspense, legends, myth, archeology, science and intriguing historical realities all wrapped into one!
In India in 509 BC, a man's love for a woman leads to a daring plan of escape, to take her from a secret village. Carrying with him a book in snakeskin leather and jewels, Sahadeva escapes only to find worse trouble.
Annja Creed joins the archeological dig of Professor Rai on the southern coast of India to investigate a burial pit of the Shakti, a culture known for human sacrifices. When a tsunami hits, the sea opens up the secrets of the past, as ancient relics. Nagas, figures with one part human and one part snake that have been hidden for centuries, indeed millenia, now come to the surface. Pirates, the most ruthless pirates now doing business in the waters around India, have turned their aim on Annja Creed's find. Can Annja discover the archeological significance of these relics before the thieves can stop her? Will an ancient curse, the curse of the nagas, follow all those touch or hunt for these relics? A relic with writing in a language unknown to the world's lingusitic experts tantalizes with its hint of a lost culture. What strange mix of legend and reality will archeology unearth?
This author's writing is breathtaking. Fine details, very fine details all in place create an aura, a level of suspense and myth, that make this read intriguing from start to finish. From knowledge of skin diving to knowledge of ancient civilizations and linguistics, this novel is written with a firm unpinning of detailed research but never heavy or pedantic --- it just seems to flow from his pen (or keys) as part of the story. I love the way this author writes characters. Annja Creed is magnificent --- intelligent, dynamic, sassy and downright funny at times. The father and son relationship between the pirate Rajiv and his son Goraksh is emotionally moving as well as suspenseful. A stunning ending!
All I can say is that Debiw and my husband were not kidding when they talk about how awesome Rogue Angel is. This is the 10th book in the series but it works well as a stand alone. One may not know all the history of how Annja Creed found the sword, Joan of Arc's sword, or the entire history of Garin and Roux, people who have lived for centuries, but this story in and of itself with its sea legends and snake legends is so awesome, and this author's style so incredible, that it is well worth reading as a stand alone. Suspense, action, great characters, myth and legend mixing with history and even science, curses and archeology and science all are so finely sculpted together.
Mini-Challenge: New to Me
This part of the Rogue Angel writing team is not to new to me. I already read an awesome book by him so I confess, I did have a very strong feeling I would love this..and I did! Rogue Angel is new to me in terms of reading one. I have bought previous ones with a strong feeling that I would love them. Sometimes you just know a book is going to be great just from knowing what you like to read, reading the blurb. Added to the fact all the good things I kept hearing about this series. This was the case with Rogue Angel. I have to thank Debiw and others for bringing this book and this author to my attention. I just want to reinforce their praise for this book. It is not a romance --- although this author really writes some really fun exchanges between Annja and the men in her life. I just think this book might really, really appeal to readers who loved the Bombshells and love suspense, esp. if readers also like a bit of myth and legendary feel to the read. Why in the world did I wait so long to read this series?!?!?! My TBR is way out of control but I just can't let it delay me in reading series like this one!

I read Secret of the Slaves
I read Secret of the Slaves last month and I fell in love with the series. I want to go back and read the series from the beginning. I love how he puts different things that has happened into his stories. It keeps you wanting more when you are finished.

Hooked!
Now that Tiffany and Merri have been captured by the lure of this series, they'll both have to read the first one (Destiny). I really liked Solomon's Jar, much of it takes place in a historic village in New Mexico that I've been to many times.

Defintely hooked on this series after one book!
I am definitely goingto be reading much, much more of this series! I agree Tiffany, it just grabbed me right away. I wasn't even trough the prologue before I was knowing this was going to be a great read. The ending of this one was really fascinating and it is killing me not to have a major spoiler discussion about some of the cool things in this book. This author's imagination. --- and how it is all put together --- is something that makes this series a read that just sticks with you after the last page. I couldn't start something last night after finishing it. I picked up several books but they just paled compared to this author's writing. I can't wait to read more!

Thank you for turning us on
Thank you for turning us on to this series. I really hate doing spoilers or even giving them to others so I would hate to put any spoilers anywhere that search engines can find. Are chat rooms search engine proof? This book has so many awesome parts that it would be great book to talk about. Wasn't that ending really cool and such a surprising twist. Kind of neat for book lovers, isn't it?

Isn't this author really
Isn't this author really two authors writing as one? I think I've read that somewhere. I believe they trade off writing each book.
Anyway, i have read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it. Even though some of the history and all goes over my head a bit, it still left me very intrigued. I have all of the books in this series except Book # 2 and 3. I haven't read the others yet because I want to read them in order, even though I know they can stand alone. But who knows when I'll be able to track down the two I'm missing, so I may just have to read starting from Book 4. lol
Glad you're enjoying this series!
Yes, Alex Archer is a
Yes, Alex Archer is a writer team and you can tell who wrote which one by the copyright and special contribution. Mel Odom wrote this one. I love Mel Odom's writing. He also wrote the first ROGUE ANGEL which I hope to read very soon. The Room 59 series by Cliff Ryder is also a multi-author team and Mel Odom did the first one there. His writing is awesome I think. I am getting ready to start a book by him tonight based on a video game Hellsgate London. I love this auhtor's way of writing ---suspenseful, great plots, great characterization. Some of the scenes in this prologue were so breathtaking to me.
I don't think it really matters where you start in the series. In lots of great stories from the Middle Ages to Star Wars and other modern stories, often prequels were written after the ain story like the story of Merlin and Lancelot before we knew them. I understand about waiting. Once my husband read a later one we had to go back and buy the first ones. I'm gald Idid not wait and just started in. I get a bit overwhelmed and frustrated by my TBR. I knew I was going to enjoy this series but all last year I never got to read it thanks to be TBR. I think from now on I think I need to somehow incorporate Cady/s Challenge and go into my TBR even if it is only one or two books a month.
