SEX, STRAIGHT UP, (Blaze), Kathleen O' Reilley

Meeting a handsome loner on a deserted beach in the Hamptons was like being hit by lightning. One steamy weekend in bed with Daniel
O'Sullivan and Catherine Montefiore was marvelously woozy from a
delicious cocktail of sun, sand and superhot sex.

Abruptly, though, Catherine's forty-eight hours of fun are at an end when her
family's exclusive auction house is hit by a very public scandal. She's
ready to step in and save the day, but she's hoping Daniel, her hot
Irish hunk, will lend a hand. After all, he's got the necessary skills
and, straight up or not, Catherine wants another long drink of Daniel
before another forty-eight hours are up and her legacy is lost forever!

I very much enjoyed the romance in this book. It's a touching, emotional read about a 9/11 widower, Daniel, who has mourned for years and finally finds a new love in his life, Catherine, while he struggles to let go of his late wife. The author letter says it all, a dedication to local coach who died in the bombings, and this is really so emotional, especially for a native New Yorker such as myself. The book is sexy, yes, but so much more, which is just what I love about Blaze.

I had a moment of shock in the first few pages, because the opening of the story was way different than what I expected from the title and blurb (which just goes to show ya!), but I was genuinely pleased, nonetheless. I really liked and cared about both of these characters, Daniel and Catherine, and wanted to see them get together, wanted the best for them from the very beginning.

Kathleen does a wonderful job making them real, complex people with needs and problems that draw you in. The opening pages will grab you as well, letting you know this is a very different book, and I haven't read a romance that really had me rooting for the characters to get together as much as these two for a long while. I had to finish the book before I went to bed so that I knew they had their HEA.

Thanks for a great read, Kathleen,

Sam

Jayne...

Your arm-twisting worked, LOL -- just kidding. I didn't want to sign up for any particularly goal-driven review groups, but your email about every book we can post helping out with the literacy challenge motivated me. I'm going to try to post a couple a month, so hope it does indeed help out in the end...
