As I mentioned on a previous blog, I have been a bit wary of Blazes, the early Temptations that supposedly were the starting point, didn’t work for me and the one I tried just seemed too harsh to work. So I was a bit hesitant to try them, but this book got great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. Wow, what a great book. The book is not really about sex, (although that is the title) it is about two lonely people who meet and have to decide if they can move beyond their emotional boundaries they have set in place. Daniel is a 911 widower, who hasn’t been able to open his emotions again. Catherine is a shy art appraiser, whose grandfather has never been the open type. Sex is used as an emotional entry for both of them – their willingness to open up in bed, allows their emotions to slowly move to the surface. The story is excellent and I loved the ending – really shows Catherine’s growth curve. My only peeve – looking at the blurb on the back and the cover, I would have never picked it up. The blurb makes the book sound so much more superficial. And the cover – well, that is a whole other argument, but truthfully, I hate these so-called sexy covers, they just don’t work for me. Overall, Great Book and I will definitely be trying more Blaze’s – however, since the blurb’s don’t seem to match the books, I will likely be doing them later and waiting for recommendations from my friends here.
