As Jordan's brother and best friend are married, her friend and FBI agent Noah says something to her that strikes a chord: "You never step outside your safe environment, your comfort zone. You stay in the shadows." And so she decides to do something spontaneous: she's going to Texas to meet with a history professor to learn about her family's ancient feud. Not long after arriving in the friendly small town, she finds a body in the trunk of her car. Thankfully, Jordan's family is in law enforcement. So she calls her brother Nick, an FBI agent, and he and his friend Noah are on their way to help her out. But bodies just keep piling up and they all have connections to Jordan. The secrets & mysteries in the small town of Serenity, Texas, are going to be explored and someone out there is not very happy with that. Really enjoyed the story. All I kept thinking when Jordan was in jail was, "Thank goodness her family is in law enforcement." The ineptitude of the police chief is frightening. The gradual attraction between Jordan and Noah was fun to read.

Suddenly, a woman who has spent more quality time with her laptop than with any man is caught up in a lethal mystery - and in a knee-buckling relationship with FBI agent and old friend Noah Claiborne.
